Okafor?

Well quite a nice painting by Reg, I didn`t know that he painted the pic in his avy.

Okafor would be a great fit. Particularly because Boone is our only big who doesn't suck at rebounding. If all it would take would be SWat+contract filler, we'd have to jump on it IMO.

I had no idea either until I heard he was going to art college in Australia (that is you, right?)

I know Okafor finally survived an entire season, but I really think he has chronic health issues.

It seems like the Bobcats feel that way, too.

I like him as a player, but I don't think he's worth the risk. Right now, it's unnecessary for the Nets to gamble this way.

I'm all for it although #1 War Poet is right Maxamillion might fight ya for it:) This KG piece was for my buddy who's got a serious mancrush on Ticket, I think this was fresh off him MVP win so it's a bit dated. I never finished this LeBron one either but don't show Dumpy or he'll get all riled up again

I'm def gonna start doing some digging for some good VC pics, in Nets uni of course.

Thanks for the kind words Lava Lamp! And no Poet, that's not me but i'm pretty jealous of whoever you're thinking of.

That's exactly how I see it. Someone could point to those 82 games and say he's finally healthy but I just see him being overdue for another stint on the injured reserve. The pricetag he's looking for isn't gonna happen either, turning down that 12 mil last season was DUMB.

I don't want him anywhere near the Nets except as the opponent.

He is very overrated and not worth the money he wants. Just playing on the Bobcats inflates his stats. Boone and Noah could put up his numbers playing on that sad sack team.

Okafor is no more than a solid role player. The money he's asking for is ludicrous. He is an absolute idiot for not accepting the contract that was offered to him last year. Now there's no way he even gets that much, and he shouldn't.

No offense, but why is it that with every single free agent the Nets fans seem to think that they would be a good fit for their team?

There are a lot of Nets fans, so you get a lot of different opinions. Just on sheer numbers, at some point, somebody will bring up a different free agent.

It also helps that the team sucks and is going through a complete rebuild, so virtually anyone could help.

Kerry Kittles anyone?

Lucious Harris, Aaron Williams, and Brian Scalabrine! Those are the guys the Nets need for a championship roster.

Clearly Okafor would be a nice addition to the Nets, but they definitely don't have the cap space to sign him, and it seems to make the most sense to keep the players they have on their cheap contracts. Unless Okafor agrees to a relatively nice deal.

I don't really like the guy but clear out the cap and have a Wade or LeBron playing beside him and that is a damn good team to start off with.

I'm not sure I like him either, and am not sure I would like such a move, but if they could subtract Swift and Hassell in a sign-and-trade, they'd be able to get rid of some deadwood and not increase the salary obligation by very much (at least for this coming season).

The problem, as Reg put it, is that OkafOr wants to play the 4, and the Nets would probably prefer to use him at the 5.

he would play well next to lopez. but then what do you do w/ Yi?

also why would charlotte take on swift and or hassel?

You nailed it Dumpy, with this influx of forwards we have acquired he's gonna be our center and he really wants to be a power forward. He blames all of his injuries on playing that position but really that's what he's perfect for in the NBA today. He was so much of a injury risk/bitch Jordan went and took Mohammed's awful contract to pacify him as much as provide depth for their team. Simply put he wants to get paid a whole lot of money to play ball the way he wants and that's just not gonna happen.

I missed Reg's earlier point, but yea you guys are spot on. Okafor wants to play the 4, Yi also would be best at the 4. Basically unless the Nets know that Yi can become a SF, which probably is a stretch, then it would create a logjam with 2 starting PFs. Either Okafor would be disgruntled at center, or Yi would be disgruntled guarding SFs all the time. (unless he is capable then it would work out)

Yea, seems a bit excessive. Actually a lot of big men get rather massive contracts. Murphy, Kwame Brown, Jerome James, Foyle, Dampier, Theo Ratliff, a 32 year old Ben Wallace (60 mill over 4 years), Zach Randolph, Brian Grant was making 15 mill per year.

It`s nuts how some of these guys get these massive contracts. Okafor is better than those guys, but still.
