Wesley Matthews/Gerald Wallace to Philly for Evan Turner/Nocioni/1st

I like the boldness. Scary as hell though because Nocioni sucks ass, and Turner has not lived up to his hype. If he ever does though, this is a steal for the Blazers

Turner is a ball dominant all-around player. The Sixers are playing him as a glue guy (WTF). He needs a change in scenery. I think Nate would love him actually, size, passing ability, unselfish. He'd try to play him like Roy I would think.

I don't want Nate anywhere near him, but agree with the rest of it

Not sure the Sixers would go for that package, but maybe?

I don't want Nate either. I'm just calling it as I see it. Nate would love him.

Well because rumor has it management laughed at the idea of Rondo being on the block.

And the other rumor has this:

3. The do run Rondo: Our friend Brian Berger, on his radio show on KXTG yesterday, spent a remarkable amount of time and energy talking up the Blazers making a trade for Boston point guard Rajon Rondo.

With the March 15 trade deadline, such conversations will be going hot and heavy not just here in Portland, but all over the NBA.

So what about Rondo? There's a lot of stuff coming out of Boston about him, and it's hard to tell what's smoke and what's fire.

Celtics president Danny Ainge scoffed at reports about Rondo, telling the Boston Herald's Mark Murphy, "I anticipate him being here for a long time." Ainge also denied reports that Rondo and coach Doc Rivers have a deteriorating relationship beyond just normal player-coach stuff.

But a "source" tells Murphy that the Celtics are "desperate" to trade Rondo as he is the only asset they have. The source also calls Rondo a "moody" guy who has trouble fitting in and has "irreconcilable differences" with the team, and diminished trade value.

Cough! Cough! Sorry, the smoke it just so thick in here.

I approve. I don't think the Sixers do it just to offload Nocioni, though. They're more likely to want to unload Iguodala and his big contract than they are to pick up ANOTHER older guy who's about to break down. If we threw in Camby and took back Brand, they might be more tempted though.

But Iggy just made the All-Star team..... I doubt they move him. Brand would probably be more attractive for them to move with his huge ass contract.

He made the AS game solely because the 76ers have a good record, not because he's having a great year. If the Sixers would have been a good team at AS break in the past he would have multiple AS selections.

I'd be fine with taking out that 1st from Philly in the deal, also. Nocioni has a team option for next season, so his salary wouldn't be an issue at all. I like Turner, and love a Turner-Batum combo on the wings for us going forward. i think each have enough ball handling ability to need little out of a PG, really.

I think deals like this is where we probably need to really focus right now. Attempting to find young talent that has been slightly underperforming, that might be able to be had. Easiest way to actually be able to obtain them is when those guys are on teams that are playing well/contending. Philly has slipped lately, but finding young guys on teams like that would be ideal.

Am guessing he'll be an amnesty candidate in the offseason, IF they can find something to us the cap space on.

Possibly... won't he only have one year left after this season? One year at 17 or 18 million though.

Yeah, he's an expiring. They'll be over the cap with him. I am just assuming they go into free agency in the offseason working as if they have his contract space under the books. If they can get someone to agree to sign, they waive him, and if not, might as well keep him as a big expiring.

I think with some of our expirings, if there aren't a lot of guys we like in free agency this season, we should also look to try to get talent by taking on an additional year of someone's unwanted salary. The punitive luxury tax begins after next season, so if there was one year to take a hit, but with th ebenefit of young talent coming in with it, next year might be it. Especially if it is a team potentially looking at cap space. Someone like Brand, Stephen Jackson, Al Jefferson, Devin Harris, etc. Not guys I really want, but would pay if it meant getting talent we can actually build around in return.

Here is a trade that almost certainly could happen, and that most people here would hate:

Felton for Derek Fisher

It doesn't work straight up, but I got it to work by trading Felton into the Lakers' trade exception. Now, the Lakers want a PG bad and have been rumored to consider Felton. Why? Because their PGs (Felton and our old pal Blakey) are so crap. So why would we do this? Answer, to CRIPPLE THE LAKERS. Not just because we give them a turnover machine who can't shoot, but because Derek Fisher is actually their MVP. Don't believe me? What were the Lakers' worst seasons in recent memory? Yes, when Derek Fisher was off in Golden State or Utah. Also, he's the only person on the planet who doesn't think Kobe is the biggest asshole alive. Take him away and there's no buffer between Bryant and his poor teammates.
I'd honestly do it, just for that. But there's also a chance Fisher would hit the odd big shot, and if we're ever in any more close games (at which we've sucked this year), I'd like Fisher on the court.

I would even trade with the Evil Lakers to get rid of Felton. I think his presence in the locker room, court and being part of the team is a major jinx.

Okay here is a crazy idea and I'm sure many would laugh this off. Oh well here it goes....

Three Team: Boston, PDX and NJ

Boston trades: Paul Pierce and Rondo. They receive: NJ's 1st rounder (protected), D. Williams, and Gerlad Wallace.

Portland trades: G. Wall, Camby, Matthews, and Nic Batum. They receive: Paul Pierce and Rondo.

NJ Trades: Their protected 1st rounder and D. Williams. They receive: Camby, Matthews and Batum.

Then after this deal, I would do the Felton for Blake straight up deal with the Lakers. Then I would sign Patty Mills, since there is a free roster spot open.

That's actually not bad, but I think NJ would want Rondo in that deal. I don't know if Matthews and Batum is enough to make them happy.

Awesome trade!

I expect courtside seats for life when you are made GM of the Blazers!

I would assume NJ would want Rondo. And I'd probably do the NJ side of the deal, and cut Boston out. NJ's first, protected, and Deron for Camby, Batum and Wes? Sure. I try to talk Deron into taking his 2013 option, and maxing out the following year with us. We'd stil have a good amount of cap space, and we'd have Aldridge and Deron, to try to entice free agents with.

Well I was thinking the incentive would be having Camby's expiring contract to free up even more space for Howard or other free agents. They look like they would win more games this season; which could make that pick a "moot point". If they could pry Howard from Orlando, then they have a good core of Matthews (for defense), Batum and Howard.

NJ would never do that deal.

I think Boston wants Williams. I think they are willing to do this deal because they get a first rounder, cap reduction in Pierce and Rondo. If Williams doesn't stay, then they would have even more space to rebuild.

I would rather have Rondo than Willaims, IMO.

how about this

It's weird that Matthews would give them more wins in Trade Machine. But I like that deal as well.

I'm just thinking that they would rather have the cap space and a young prospect in Williams than the bigger contract in Matthews. Still, I'm thinking NJ would rather have Rondo.... :dunno:

Okay this is crazy, but it seems Miami isn't missing a beat even with Bosh being hurt.

Camby, Rights to Oden and Craig Smith for Chris Bosh

We would free up a roster spot so we can sign Patty Mills. Miami is good enough to win just as many games without Bosh, plus they get inside muscle in Camby and Smith. They can wait it out for Oden (Because if he does pan out, they would be unstoppable).

This deal would give us an additional 3 mil in cap space to find a PG this off-season.

New starting Line-up: Felton or Mills, Batum, Wallace, Bosh and Aldridge.
