So by the same token should Obama say something about all the horrible things said about McCain or moreso Palin at his Rallies? How about every star in hollywood having something to say about it despite the very apparent lack of political understanding on their parts?

Obama isn't running anymore of a clean campaign than McCain, and he's not inciting any of this crap just as McCain isn't.

Leaving aside the fact that you are engaging in the common strategy among McCain apologists of trying to shift (or compare) blame to Obama: Let's have some examples. What is being said at Obama rallies that could potentially incite hatred and violence? Please, let us know so we can have an honest discussion.

You didn't have to go very far into Tuesday's Special Education Komment to find the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann once again twisting reality to smear Sarah Palin. To wit:

1:25 p.m. Eastern Time, today, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. During the warm-up act by a red meat Congressional candidate aptly named Chris Hackett, Hackett mentions Obama and a Palin audience member shouts, "Kill Him." And Gov. Palin, as usual, does nothing about it; says nothing to these thugs and psychos. She may not have heard this one. It is impossible to believe that by now she has not heard about the other ones. Her silence is deafening.

She may not have heard it? Here's the report from the Scranton Times-Tribune that Oralmann used as his source. It confirms that was said at 1:25 pm. So far so good.

But what is Herr Olbermahn not telling us? Here's what Bathtub Boy left out:

1:40 p.m.: The press pool has arrived at Riverfront Sports. Gov. Palin should arrive shortly.

1:56 p.m.: Gov. Palin, accompanied by her husband, Todd, walked onstage to a rousing reception by the Riverfront Sports crowd as the theme from "Rocky" played.

What's this? Gov Palin hadn't even arrived when some doofus shouted "Kill Him"! Oralmann twists the facts by saying "she may not have heard" it. May not?!? She wasn't even there! "Her silence was deafening." Well, it is kind of hard to be heard when you are in a motorcade miles away.

Keith Olbermann, once again demonstrating that he is a slovenly political hack, and, above all, a flagrant liar.

He silenced the Boo's to continue with his speech. Has he ever stopped and individually addressed someone as McCain did after a deplorable comment was made? No, he hasn't. And I really hope your not naive enough to think that things haven't been said. As I said before, neither candidate should have to, however if you want to talk about who has gone out of their way in the middle of a speech to stop these kind of comments, that would be McCain.

It's obvious to even the most infantile retards that horrible things are said about both candidates by both groups of supporters. Republicans happened to get unlucky when the "Kill Him" comment was recorded clearly at a rally. I don't need a cite or reference to say what I did, it's called common sense, get some.

They aren't. Nobody is yelling terrorists at Obama's rallies or kill him in referencing John McCain. You don't hear it at Obama's rallies. Nothing to the extent of "kill him". If they were, we'd know because that is the age of technology that we live in.

Regardless of your politcal beliefs, Americans are going down a path that could set this country back for years and devastate it if this hate mongering keeps up. I at least applaud John McCain for standing up to some of those nutcases last week. The sad thing is he was booed by his own supporters for doing so.

What do a bunch of people in Hollywood have to do with this? Do they represent Obama's campaign, do they work for him? There is a huge difference between correcting someone at a rally when you are speaking, and someone who speaks of their own free will simply because they are a public figure.

How is a random person yelling something at a rally any different than a hollywood actor spouting off because they have a platform to broadcast their views? Either way, their still supporters of one candidate or another. And neither of which actually represents the campaign. But for some reason, McCain is being held accountable. Remember my argument from the start has been that neither candidate should have to do anything about these statements, because they are beyond their control.

And yes, I know, I'm racist, fanatical, and insane...all because I'm anti-Obama. :biglaugh:

But there's a difference between criticising someone, even questioning their experience, motivation, or history, and inciting violence. No one has been inciting any violence or creating an environment of hatred towards McCain, in part because everyone feels obligated to call him a hero. What McCain and his campaign has done is create an environment of anger towards Obama, and it has spun out of control. Jon Stewart had a cute little piece on that yesterday--comparing it to creating a Frankenstein monster.

Do you really not understand? If the candidate stands there while someone yells "Obama is a terrorist!" or "McCain is a commie!" and they don't say anything, it speaks volumes about them. Allowing something to happen right in front of you at an event focused on you is largely different than an individual (famous or not) making comments through the media about the other candidate. One thing you are missing is that most of these Hollywood types who insult either candidate do not actually verbally endorse the other candidate. So you assumption that someone who attacks McCain supports Obama is just an assumption on your part.

1. The political understanding is not really up for debate, and can't really be known just because someone states their opinion. I could have a large understand of politics but still have a completely off the wall opinion.

2. Does their level of understanding really matter (see the 1st amendment :lol:).

3. You are basically saying that if they DID have a high level of understanding that it would be okay for them to spout off all the time. Ridiculous.

This is the internet, we don't know what race you are to even consider calling you racist. Ok...Lets get real here chief. McCain didn't allow people to randomly yell horrible things about Obama, he stopped in the middle of a speech and addressed the issue. Obama has not. Secondly, it's not an assumption that 85% of Hollywood is liberal. It's simple fact. The same can be said for people who attack one candidate or another without verbally endorsing either, of course there's a tiny chance they are independent, but by a large margin it's safe to say most people who attack McCain are Democrats/Obama supporters and vice versa. Once again...common sense people.

1. It's not hard to imagine why you have no problem with people spouting of factually incorrect things on a normal basis, they support your candidate. I'd wonder how you'd feel about it when the shoe is on the other foot.

2. Simply put yes, of course it is their right to say whatever they want, but being in a position to broadcast their opinion be it incorrect or not to millions of people, is a problem, expecially when they are incorrect.

3. In a word, yes. If what was being said about McCain in Hollywood was factual, that would be ok, however 90% of it is not, therefore I have a problem with it. Just as I have a problem with people like Keith Olbermann lieing his ass off about McCain. I also have a problem with Republicans spouting garbage about Obama that is untrue.

No one here has called me racist outright like that, however I've received that treatment elsewhere despite it having absolutely no truth to it. I have been called fanatical and insane here, and that's pretty offensive to me, sorry for having an opinion that happens to clash with yours and many others on this site.

Bad choice of words on my part, I should say when they use inaccurate information as part of their opinion. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, however they can be incorrect. An opinion formulated on incorrect information is still incorrect, despite the fact that it is an opinion.
