I told my wife to take our daughter to the car and only stuck around to make sure they didnt actually go beat up the other lady, they took her back in the store, and I left.
Seemed like a dumb way to handle it on there part...

Do you still shop at that Fred Meyer?

Not sure how this is racial profiling, but she was wrong to grab the lady.

Don't get me wrong, it could have been racial profiling, but it also could have been a lady she thought stole something.

Not that fred meyers, but theres one like two blocks from my house we shop at once in a while.
Since Kroger bought them, I don't even shop there.
I remember the very first Fred Meyer store in a leased space in downtown Portland near the old Meier and Frank building. I think it was the Stadium Fred Meyer that came next and the Burlingame Fred Meyer that came after that.
I just looked it up. His first store was in the Hollywood district opened in 1931. Okay, that was before my time.

No, no, Sly, quit spreading the rumor that I'm over 100. I don't know how many times I've told you that it's just that I've led a hard life and look that old. Did you get that from my wife? Sheesh, some people.

Then how did she have the receipt for it? Baffling, isn't it.

As someone with retail management experience, let me explain how shoplifting for profit is performed in our modern society.

First you get receipts out of the trashcan outside the store.

Next, you find the item on the receipt and take it to the cashier and ask to return it for a refund, or more often and successful, steal the item and come back later to return it using the receipt.

It's clear she's a pro.

I thought the first FM store was the one at 1st and Alder or something?

I'm lucky I'm big and scary looking. I ever tell the story of my friend slipping a theft prevention sticker in my wallet?

I set off random alarms coming and going from stores for a year in the mid 90s. I got chased by loss prevention a few times and invariably turned and said something like "leave me alone or I'll beat you to death"

Worked every time.

It would alarm going into Fred Meyers.

Welcome back, man.

You'd better catch her doing it.
Also, does she have a shoplifting record?
There's a couple of holes you need to fill before you pronounce her a pro. That's a pretty serious charge which you can be sued for falsely saying.
