Olshey press confernce (1 Viewer)

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

11am but I'm hearing it's not going to be streamed to the public.

I was thinking how great it would be if you had a press pass and could ask condescending egomaniac Neil Oilslick questions during his news conferences. It would be epic.

I would read some of his lines to him from when he was a soap star :devilwink:

I read from several sports journalist this season that after covid restrictions they may not return to old ways when it comes to media access....they are cutting costs and teams are streamlining their overhead....I heard they love that they don't have to lodge feed or transport media members on the road like they used to....zoom is here to stay...radio broadcasters will probably not travel either but stream from Portland for every game....league lost a bundle in revenue last season

It's free to stream things over facebook and that is exactly how the Blazers have done it in year's past.

Here are two examples of that.

Yes, the day after.

Here are the players from 2019.

I understand zoom is free but if there's no media access Casey and Brooke probably don't get paid that day right?

Dame has come in front of the media and answered every question thoughtfully after tough performances throughout his career. Dude was still out there for 10+ mins after Game 6 with tears in his eyes after he gave his all for the city/franchise. There have been no filters, no gripes, no complaints about the media. Even in instances when he's been unfairly maligned, he's come out and given it right back to the media.

You'd think Neil would use that as an example and face the public. If he's scared in front of this cupcake media crew in Portland, what would he do in a larger market?

Speaking of which, nearly every GM/PoBO in the league has had multiple media sessions/radio/tv interviews through the season, and Olshey hasn't had a single live Q&A interview since Dec 2020. Even after the trade deadline, it was a doctored interview session that was recorded on paper.

"coward" is correct. I actually was behind quite a few of his moves this past season, but this shit is unforgiveable, especially in market like ours where fans are so passionate and crave these soundbytes.

And I'm pretty sure Casey is a salaried employee. I have no idea if Brooke is a Blazer employee or a Blazer Broadcasting employee.

@THE HCP any info on this?

Pretty sure she's a Blazer employee.

Except she's free to do other endorsement work. She is a spokesperson for Lillard Toyota. I don't think Blazer employees can endorse outside products but broadcasters can.

Trail Blazers Announce 2020-21 TV Broadcaster

The Portland Trail Blazers named Jordan Kent as the new Television Play-by-Play Broadcaster, it was announced today by the team. Kent, who filled in for Kevin Calabro during the NBA restart in Orlando last season, will begin his first full year in the new role with the start of the 2020-21 NBA season.

“Jordan has been an excellent member of the Trail Blazers broadcast team since 2016 as Television Studio Host and really stepped up to take on the Play-by-Play role during the NBA restart last season,” said Chris McGowan, President & CEO of the Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter. “We’re extremely excited to see Jordan step into his new role as television voice of the Trail Blazers alongside our fantastic broadcast team of Lamar Hurd, Brooke Olzendam, Michael Holton and Travis Demers.

I'm not so sure about that.
Her bio says she left comcast to work for blazers broadcasting as a sideline reporter and host....she's listed on the blazers home site broadcasting page with the other broadcasters...Casey works in the media dept and is in a different job description but from what I saw...both are employed by the team...her wiki page sites when she joined the Blazers from comcast

Eh....... I'm fairly certain that MB was doing his NO BULL Wilsonville Toyota commercials while he was working for the team.

It's like the team gives zero fucks about quality or fan approval.

I'm not so sure about that.
She works offseason gigs for sports events....and is free to. Orlando Williams does as well...he's a sports agent when he's not broadcasting for the team...lot of broadcasters call baseball games after the hoops season ends as well. I don't think that's an issue...

Exactly what I'm saying, she works for Blazer Broadcasting. Casey works for the Blazers.

Yes, again, exactly what I'm saying.

HCP works for Blazer broadcasting and is free to work other gigs.

Casey works for the Blazers and is not free to pick up other gigs.

Yes, exactly. Just like Schonz did endorsement gigs when he worked for the Blazers as a broadcaster.

Blazers broadcasting has it's own page on the team website....it includes all broadcasters...Mike and Mike were there before....in my view that's working for the Blazers broadcasting branch...Casey works for Blazers media branch...in my understanding these are both divisions of the Blazers franchise and not subcontracted positions....Brook is on the same team with Lamar Hurd, Jordan Kent and Michael Holton.....not Dwight Jaynes or Joe Freeman....they are employed by other organizations..
