Patty Mills! 24 pts, 6 ast putting Australia on his back yet again.

Baynes out for the rest of the Olympics because he slipped and injured himself in the locker rooms during the Italy game.

I’ve been really impressed by the level of competition at this tournament, in the Australian pool at least. Every team has played very hard, has for the most part executed really well, and no one has embarrassed themselves.

Missing everything and they're hitting everything. Lucky to only be down 7.

High scoring game so far considering the shorter quarters, and the physical nature of FIBA.

You may want to play some defence.

USA tends to go to the three to early. When on the break they all fan out to the three point line too much and not attack instead.

Spain vs. Slovenia tomorrow is a big one. Whoever loses is out of medal contention, right? And they and the US are easily the top 3 teams.

Edit: WRONG. It won't be the knockout stages yet. Still, should be a good one nonetheless. Can't see anyone on Spain slowing down Doncic.

I hope Dame has noticed that even a team full of All-Stars falls behind to a team of non-NBA players when they don’t play defence.

Top two from each pool go through to the quarter finals, as well as the top two ranked third placed teams. So they’ll both be in the quarters regardless of the result.

Didn't know Australia was still a colony!
Somehow we’re still a constitutional monarchy. The royals are strangely popular, and the republican movement has faded since it’s peak in the late 1990’s. Then again, we don’t have to pay a cent towards their upkeep. I suspect sentiments would be different if we did.

I read yesterday that the Celtics might be targeting him in free agency. That would be...weird. COME BACK TO US, PATTY!
Germany were double and sometimes even triple teaming him, which is how he got the assists. He was cold early, but shot himself into form.

Patty wouldn’t be listening to anything NBA or contract related right now, he’s 100% focused on medaling.

Chicken and the egg...

I do believe Dame has a say in Olshey shying away from true backup PG's.

CJ has shown himself equally capable of running the offense when Dame is out, so there's no reason why he couldn't fill more of that role when they're both in the lineup.
CJ didn't terrible job running the offense with the 2nd group last year.

He didn't run the 2nd group offense when Dame was out, which is what I specifically referenced. CJ's role changes with and without Dame.

Dame played defense. Whole stint on court. He had 2 steals, even though he was only credited with 1. He just didn't hit shots. But his teammates did, and after a slow start, where guys i've never heard of hit early 3's and drives, the USA smoked them.

You must been watching something else because he run offense when Dame was out and that's why they terrible ball movement with that group.

Back on topic--seems like the US got a lucky break with both Slovenia and France on the opposite side of the knockout draw from them. Of course, Spain's a tough matchup for them, and they've already lost to the Aussies once in exhibition, but I'm sure they'll be thrilled not to have to see Luka or France until/unless a medal is on the line.

I think I know why Germany keep losing...
