...on Christmas Day.

Oh my God, that would make me upset. Most of the radio hosts thinks it's absolutely going to happen!

I doubt Dwight will. There are reports that the Lakers and Hornets have had preliminary talks about a Pau/fillers for Paul deal and are expected to talk later this week. If the Hornets' want Bynum instead of Pau, reports are the Lakers' will give in.

I thought Bynum was the "fillers".

Are their radio idiots down there like our radio idiots up here, and have no clue how trades happen?

Knicks fans and Lakers fans should compete over who can be more confident that Chris Paul and/or Dwight Howard is going to end up on their team.

Is Chris Paul's gimpy knee the same one as Kobe's gimpy knee? If not, they can tie the bad legs together and have a three-legged backcourt.

Why fight it? If that's where Dwight wants to go, I have no doubt he'll eventually get there -- either before Christmas, or before the Fourth of July.

is anyone else getting the vibe of Pau+ to ORL, and Bynum+ to NOH?

Bulls are rumored to be offering "pick 2 or 3" of anyone on their roster, except Rose, for Howard.

If the Lakers are able to trade Pau (who they got for nothing and yes I'm still bitter) for Dwight Howard I'm gonna puke.

I listen to LA sports radio when I'm there and they all seem pretty level headed. Who broke out the crack pipe?

Both teams would be in re-build mode so I don't see how a 30-something Pau (on a max deal) and an injury prone Bynum make sense.

Probably John Ireland. Dude's the biggest Laker fan boy and to make matters worse he has a job with the team.

Exactly. And as MANY people have pointed out: the Hornets are owned by the NBA. If they trade Paul for anyone but a young star (or potential star, e.g., Stephen Curry) there will be blood.

I say Howard ends up in NJ and Paul ends up in NY.

Pau Gasol is not exactly chop liver. If the Lakers have to give him up they won't be improving too much in the recent future. Pau is the perfect Big who can play with Kobe on offense.

It would be a good long-term move though, of course.

I think retooling from K*be/Pau/Bynum to CP3/K*be/Howard would be monstrous. Better than the "Big 3"

That's not to say it's likely nor I want it to happen.

Here's the rumored deal:

Fisher/Bynum/Odom for Nelson/Reddick/Howard

That's worse than the normal shitty trades we Blazer fans come up with!

holy shit...two wasted roster spots for arguably the best C in the game today.

Wait, those kinds of things always seem to happen to LA....throw in a few 1st round unprotected picks to the Lakers and then maybe it'll be fair.

Dude they can't get both. They have to give up almost all their assets just to acquire one.

Pau/Bynum, Pau/Odom, Odom/Bynum.

I would assume Pau or Hedo would have to be part of the Deal. Nonetheless I can see Dwight going to LA.

People are just underestimating Pau Gasol. This guy is the preeminent example of scoring efficiently with few touches while being just as good as Kobe. I think Orlando should ask for him because they have far better deals than Bynum/Odom/Fisher.

I don't think people are under estimating him. He's 31, has almost 60 million left on his contract AND he's a softy.

Yes long-term it is a great move. There won't be much of a net gain this season though.

It doesn't matter what you think though, only what you can prove.

Pau is better suited to play with Kobe, and he carried the Lakers in 2010 through the post-season. In 2009 he stopped Dwight Howard and contained him well. I watched all these Lakers games anyway.

It's not about underestimating him. It's about a rebuilding team wanting anything to do with him. And his salary. Or a contending team being able to take on his salary.

Oh believe me I get it.

The fact that the Lakers can get Dwight Howard so easily should trouble other teams, and should indeed excite LA. But I am not sure they will even be better than last season. Maybe if they can keep Pau.

They should try to get Oden too. Then they can have a 3-legged center to match their 3-legged backcourt.
