Once again Nate cost the Blazers a playoff game

Huge mistake by Nate playing Roy in the 4th quarter. Camby was very active on defense, and we could have definitely used his offensive rebounding. He should have played over Roy in the 4th quarter. I was hoping that Nate would take Roy out everytime there was a deadball. I think, once again, Nate's stubbornness got the best of him.

This is not about Roy not hitting shots, either. We play a different style when Roy is running the offense; a style that does not suit our players well, IMO. Roy is slow to initiate the offense. When he drives and kicks the ball out, our guys pretty much have to take a long jumper because usually there is not much time left on the clock. Roy is not really collapsing the defense, so it's not like our guys are getting good looks from Roy's kickouts. Roy is no longer able to collapse a defense, and he's not hitting his shots. This version of Roy should not log this many minutes, especially a crucial playoffs game.
...and without question not extended minutes in the 4th when he's been ineffective

STOMP

amen on that, rather have Wes's D or go with Miller and Wallace-Batum-Camby-Aldridge
yup. Based on regular season play, ball movement, and general ability to run, I'm for having Rudy ahead of him in the rotation as well

Roy is still capable of getting on a roll offensively on some nights, but he's always limited on D by his lack of mobility. There needs to be an opposing wing player who's pretty limited offensively to hide him on. Even then teams will be looking to exploit him by getting him switched off onto someone who'll take him off the dribble and collapse the D. The upside of playing him is limited/varies, the downside is a constant.

I'm for him getting minutes in the first half to rest Portland's better players for the stretch. If he's having one of his good nights, then only maybe does he get to play some minutes in the 4th.

which is what we have done quite often but last night Nate changed that and left Roy in for all that time in the 4th qtr even though he was totally ineffective - that was a bad move by Nate

Yeah, that's it. If someone doesn't agree with your over-the-top blame of Nate and Roy, they must not have watched the game.

It's times like there where I think that many Blazers "fans" don't deserve a championship. You same people will be feting Nate and Roy if the teams wins the next game, and Roy plays well.

The team wins, and the team loses. Pointing out one player as the reason is the work of simpletons.

I'm not saying for sure we would have won the game but I think we would have a lot better chance with Miller playing more of the 4th qtr and Roy not playing. Nate decided to play Roy for the complete 4th qtr and I believe that was a big mistake. Our offense ran a lot better with Miller and we needed him in the 4th qtr as much as possible. We needed Camby or at least Matthews in the 4th qtr.

I love Roy and what he has done for the Blazers in the past but he just doesn't have that anymore with his knees and I think most people watching the game could see that. Why couldn't Nate see that. I'm sorry if you don't like my opinion and I'm not the only "simpleton" that saw this. This is one reason I haven't posted much on this forum in the last year.

kind of silly to get angry when someone/eveyone points out that roy had a bad game.

dont talk about my mamma!

I disagree. Roy's defense was terrible. You must not be watching the same game as I watched.

I was watchng the ESPN broadcast. I guess you were watching the local broadcast......

Look Roy can have match ups that are not the best for him. Last night it just was not a factor. I can see leaving Rudy in when Miller came back instead of Roy. But I can't see it making any difference last nght as both would have used to spread the floor or to feed LMA. The Blazers on O were going to LMA down the stretch. Roy was the 5th option with that line up. And Camby IMO should never be in at the end of the game because we need Wallace and Batum in there.

You can blame Roy and you can blame Nate, but I don't think that was the reason.

I was watching the local broadcast. I can see your point somewhat but I even think the offense bogged down without Miller running the team. I don't mind having Roy in the 4th qtr if he is playing really well but not at pg. I disagree about not having Camby in the 4th. If we are having any problems with rebounding I think we need Camby in the 4th. I do agree with needing both Batum and Wallace in the game. I think we should of had LMA, Wallace, Batum, Matthews and Miller in for most the 4th qtr. If we needed rebounding and inside defense you replace Matthews with Camby.

Also I shouldn't have posted "You must not be watching the same game as I watched" in response to you earlier post. I'm sorry.

Looks to me like people are just pointing out what to them looked like mistakes made on Portland's part. I don't see anyone definitively saying that certain player or coach is the sole reason for our lost.

Wait, but you're a true fan and never criticize any Blazer or decisions made by the coaches and the organization. I shall look up to you on how to be a true fan.

I don't see anybody criticizing Wallace or Matthews for their brutal games. Just one player, which has been the norm here for years (on various boards, except ESPN). That player changes, but the whiners still whine about one player. It's binary and boring.

unreal how this guy has a job. Biggest fraud in coaching history.

You are a tool. The Blazers played a great game. In fact, there wasn't anything I really had to complain about; it terms of coaching. Why don't you look at the piss poor performances from G Wallace, B-Roy and Wes Matthews? They were the x-factors of our loss. Also the terrible officiating in the 4th just let the Mavs come back and take control of the game.
