Ok, I never paid much attention to the whole rep thing until now. I'm 6 points away from 2000, with the goal to get to 2000 before my 8000th post.

But please don't rep me anymore in this thread. It's too easy. I want my 2000th rep point to mean somthing (well as much as it can, anyway). So, if anyone feels inclined, rep me for this post instead. That's the kind of long-winded, polemic post that has rightly earned me a reputation as a guy who writes really long-winded posts to fool people into thinking he knows what the hell he's talking about.

So, you were happy to take the free ride up to nearly 2000, but don't want a free ride over it? Sounds about right...... :dunno:

That's what I'm saying. I'll drop a gem here and there. If I stuck to that, rather than wasting my posts with dumb drivel, my rep ratio would be much better. You know, focus more on the quality over quantity. You know, the anti-HCP (he's all quantity over quality)..

At the same time I don't want to read only gut busters. It's not just comedy that gets a rep, and there are plenty of quality posts which I don't rep just because I don't want to get rep happy. I want people to know that they earned it.

I wouldn't say a lack of rep means a lack of quality either. There are a lot of quality posters on here who don't seem to have a lot of rep points.

No problem. I had to be close already before the rep orgy started, but I put more time and effort into that LONG post than all my posts in this thread. So, I like that it was the one that pushed me over the 2000 point hump. Not that it matters since all the rep points are going away. Not that it mattered even if they weren't.
