Trade Idea One Trade To Rule Them All

This could be split up but I'll put it all in one trade to end them all. I just want to say that I still think Indy should be going after Jerami to play SF with Siakam at PF.

Had to do two trades because fanspo won't do 6 team trades but realistically it should just be on three team trade and a trade or trades that could be done as a 4 team trade or a two team trade followed by a three team trade.

We waive Oladipo and Harris but keep Green on for leadership. Scoot, Shaedon, Walker, Smith Jr., Deandre, Black, Tisse, Tou, Bari, Duop and Green would be an 11 man rotation where we could keep constant pressure on defense with player and ball movement on offense. We would be above the salary floor but if the Nets didn't want to go into the tax they could throw whatever salary(ies) they didn't want back at us to keep them out of the tax.

Alright, I'll play.
Straight dump of Ayton for 2nds in 27 and 28
Grant for a '26 pick and '28 pick(best of Philly or LaC)
Brogdon and Williams for '25 pick.
76ers duck the tax, and get 2 contributors on the wing for playoff push.
Sacramento addsveteran scoring.
Detroit has $$ to spare, so take a low risk high reward flyer on an Ayton/Duren pairing up front
Houston rumored to like Brogdon and Williams. Give expirings and a Brooklyn pick.
Portland hits reset with future picks and a good amount of cap space this offseason.

Deals would have to be staggered to waive players before more came in.

Cudos for not taking back a SINGLE player we might want to keep...

Debated other swaps to find players, but this was a full OKC route. We nab 3 more picks, and we go in to the offseason with close to 60 million in cap space to take on more unwanted salary to grab more future assets.

I admire that you have accepted that Portland will never sign an actual free agent they want, no matter how much cap space we have. You have successfully killed the dream!

I think those here who hold hope that winning is just a move or two away plus a little time passing are likely ways off... they'll need to add some big pieces to this mix even if it does develop. Clearing the decks of bad contracts and loading up on picks may be the fastest most realistic path to becoming an actual contender instead of just another team in limbo without real hope fluctuating between one and done playoff appearances and the outer orbits of the lotto.

If management were to take such a tact (& assuming there were multiple top picks coming back), to me it would indicate that they have belief that their young core will develop. I'd be excited.

I agree. Once we add one or two All-NBA players to this roster, we can be good again!

I'm not anti Ben Simmons, but I'm not sure him and Scoot on the floor together would be a great combo.

Well the good news is, chances are unlikely that Ben and Scoot would actually play in the same games, if they ever became teammates.

there is no combo if Ben can't play. That's why he'd be perfect in Portland. If only Simmons was healthy, we wouldn't have to tank for picks.

Agree in theory, although Scoot is much more of a scorer (if not a shooter) than Simmons and Simmons is much more of a passer. If you had the two playing together, you BETTER get out and run.

This is certainly good to see, although watching that, he moves like somebody unsure of his back. Definitely not rookie super-athlete Ben Simmons, but also definitely a better passer than anyone currently on our roster.

No, it wouldn't right now. The reason I wanted Simmons this summer was the thought of him at PF surrounded by 3 shooters. (Ant, Shae, and Grant. + Ayton)
That is a pretty good lineup if Ben wanted to resign with Portland at a decent price....and that won't happen for various reasons. With his injury history, he does not deserve a big contract and that will piss him off.

Would you be ok with Simmons being the primary ball-handler and Scoot off the ball?

It wouldn't be ideal - but they can certainly alternate.

That worry wouldn't stop me if Brooklyn agreed to swap Simmons for Ayton, though.
