No one will deal for him Dump. The only shot we have to deal Richards is right at the trade deadline, another team is very good and feels like with one extra vet scorer they can win a cup no doubt. Then MAYBE they can deal him, but even then the other team would do so knowing they better pray Richards doesn't get hurt so they can buy him out this summer.
And we won't get anything for him dump, trust me. No team will say okay, let me take Richards off your hands, a Richards that we KNOW you will buyout this summer, and we'll also give you something good in return. NOT HAPPENING. Double so when the other team would know we are out of it, otherwise we wouldn't deal Richards to start with.
With that said, what we can gain, if we could ever deal him even for a late round pick, is the ability to use our 2nd buyout on someone else since Richards would be gone. And that could be worth something in itself.
On top of all that the other team would need to have cap space AND not mind wasting one of their buyouts on Richards' huge contract AND paying him all that money for years.
Sorry to say dump, it isn't happening. Just like I said last season, Richards is a business deal NOT a hockey deal. Only the absolute perfect storm would allow us to deal him, and allow another team to take on that contract, be able to afford that contract, be okay with using a buyout on him this summer, AND have the money to pay him off for years. Not happening.
