Happened a few days ago in Bend.

BEND -- Police in central Oregon say a 19-year-old man performed a song he introduced as "Sorry for the Mess" at a coffee house "open microphone" event, then fatally stabbed himself in the chest.

Lt. Chris Carney says patrons at Bend's Strictly Organic Coffee rushed to help Kipp Rusty Walker on Thursday night and police and medics arrived quickly. But the young man died at St. Charles Medical Center from multiple stab wounds.

Carney says Walker used a double-edged knife with a 4- to 6-inch-long blade. Police reports indicate the crowd of 10 to 15 was clapping as Walker finished his keyboard performance. When patrons saw him hitting his chest, Carney said they initially thought that was part of his act -- until they saw blood.

Coffee shop co-owner Rhonda Ealy tells KTVZ that "people at first thought it was some sort of theater."

one less idiot stealing my oxygen

Sorry for the mess huh? That's what I tell Mrs HCP right before we have sex!

What a selfish prick. If you're going to off yourself, do it in a private place so the only people you damage are the friends and family you leave behind.

The Oregonian article is from 4/15. The Daily Mail article is from 4/17. Dumb post.

Apparently you forgot to disprove my point, that...

the British did a full report (good), AP did a small article (mediocre), and the local Oregonian just lazily reprinted AP (terrible, regardless of date).

Or did you catch my point at all?

The Oregonian is not a local paper here in Beautiful Central Oregon. I've never seen a vehicle or reporter or cameraman associated with the O in this area, ever.

The Bend Bulletin is the only local daily here and they interviewed several of his friends. I'll recap since they charge 50 cents online.

He was from Anchorage and very recently migrated here with a group of friends. They say he had talked of this stuff before and they told his parents last month who took him to a hospital. It's not clear if his parents live here or Alaska, or why a suicidal, homeless 19 year old was quickly released/ejected back onto the street with no assistance or supervision. Budget cuts, I suspect.

His friends say he was absolutely the best skater in Anchorage. He only started learning to play keyboards a week earlier and apparently only so he could end his life in this manner that he chose.

Your amazingly heartless response to the unimaginable pain and suffering of a bright, very young American is right in line with your greed-driven "every man for himself, survival of the fittest" ideology in politics.

I'm surprised your avatar isn't a woman strangling her toddler to death for complaining about a wet diaper.

If the Oregonian is going to call itself the Oregonian, it should beat British papers to reporting on Central Oregon events. The order should have been Bend papers, then Oregonian, then AP, then the British papers reprint AP. It was the reverse, except that the Bend paper was first.

(I just like to stick it to the Oregonian, because they worked so thoroughly to ruin our elite team.)

Many heartless comments followed articles (I scanned several sources before first posting). I was surprised at how many people think that a suicide should be planned for them, otherwise he's a rude host. Besides, his friends told him that, so he apologized in advance in his song title, "Sorry for the Mess."

His parents live in Alaska. He was 14 days younger than my son.
