Now that i read this i don't like it. Except for Hood that bench unit severely lacks on court experience playing for a team that actually tries to win. And Hood is not known for his consistency. Moreover, I cannot say I'm thrilled enough with the starting 5 to just ignore the bench. I'm officially worried.

Guess at this point it depends on injuries still. But i agree with @GDiama . That bench doesn't look good at all. With or without Bazemore or Hood.

I know it's just pre-season, but I've watched 2 of 3 games and I'm a bit worried. Something doesn't look right.

I think they start DL, CJ, Hood, Collins, Whiteside. But I'm impressed with how much energy Bazemore brings.

What is it about the bench that you dislike in particular?

My statement said it looks like it depends on injuries.
How about we add Gasol, Little, and eventually Nurk to the mix?

His new player to dislike now that Aminu is gone is Simons.
Simmons doesn’t have enough experience or minutes to dislike. Also I would never “dislike” a player for his skills. That Kid looks like a great guy. Very likable. Let’s hope he works hard and becomes a great player. How about we see where he is after 1000 mins?

Just new guys. Give em 20 games. Gonna be a tough start.

The 1st unit should be:
Dame
Cj
Hood
Zach
Whiteside
2nd unit
Simons
Baze
Mario
Skals
Gasol or Toliver depends on injuries.

But we will find out Wes. What it going look like when Stotts start getting rotation set for the season.

I actually think Hezonja fits the starting unit the best. He’s bigger and a better ball handler/creator than Hood and doesn’t really require shots to make an impact. Hood can be more of a focal point with the second unit.

Dame
CJ
Hezonja
Collins
Whiteside

Simons
Baze
Hood
Skal
Gasol

Nah Stotts wants Hezonja to play point off the bench. Simons cant be the point.

Are you saying Hood would run the point off the bench?

Hood will be starting three. Blazers need Baze's energy from the bench. Once Gasol comes back Blazers will acclimate into a 10-11 player rotation.

Trent Jr will play before Little

Really ? I think the bench is pretty well put together. Run all day in transition with Mario, and opportunities off of Baze's steals, If we have to play half-court play off the more experienced and high IQ Gasol. And I'm sure we will have some Simons take over moments.
It's not the best on the defensive end but we can put Baze on the best perimeter player and Skal gives somewhat of an interior presence.

I really wish what you see in Mario is real because everybody here seems to put a lot of hope in him. A guy that was never dependable wherever he has played. Maybe he is a changed man.

Hmm... I think play-making in transition is his floor. That's what we get no matter what. Then we might get lucky and get even more (Good defense ? Play making in half-court ?)

Is it crazy of me to want to bring Dame off the bench. Instant 6th man of the year material. #45WinsFAMS

I have a hard time seeing how Hezonja is going to get any significant minutes at SF

you've got Dame & CJ; neither will get a minute at SF. So they get about 70 minutes a game leaving 26 backup guard minutes and 48 SF minutes. About 75 minutes. And you've got Hood, Bazemore, & Simons. Hood got 24-25 last season. So there's 50 minutes left. Bazemore will be getting half that. 25 minutes for Simons & Hezonja. After all the ridiculous chatter and hype about Simons, you'd think he'd get at least 20 minutes; Curry averaged 19 last year.

besides that, starting Hezonja at SF leaves he and Collins as the starting forwards and that's worse 3 point shooting than Portland had with Aminu and Harkless. I thought the point of the off-season was to try and upgrade Portland's floor-spacing (which I'm skeptical they accomplished)
