S.I. talked to other teams scouts and this is what they had to say about our beloved Blazers. I'm sure some won't like it, but it seems pretty spot on. Easy to argue with writers opinions, but not NBA scouts right?Screen Shot 2015-10-20 at 8.50.17 AM.png

Less explosive Blake Griffin.

Interesting comp.

I disagree with the Meyers comment -- his form is perfect.

I'm a post like a week ago you said we would win like 20 or 25 games. A bunch of us are willing to bet you that we win more

Yeah, what the hell, Meyers Leonard takes crazy shots? He was arguably the best all-around, and most selective, shooter in the league last year. I guess crazy is a good thing.

I'm sticking with that. 20-25 wins is about right.
As far as the betting....... The HCP has to chill when it comes to any type of gambling when it comes to the team or league if you know what I mean.

Wow, I think this scouting report is of a lower quality than some random dolt on a message board. Meyers has proven to be a very good shooter. He does not take crazy shots, quite the opposite actually, and he's rebounding numbers have always been good. He gives no justification for why Aminu is a weak starting SF.

yeah, the Meyers description doesn't seem to match up with reality.

His shot is slow, sure, but it's not ugly, nor does he take "crazy" shots.

This is HCP's way of saying...PM me

If anything Meyers was too selective with his shot last year. Form looks very smooth to me as well.

A lot of shooters, if you give them too much time they'll overthink and clank it.

Meyers is automatic from three when he has time to measure it.

He does not take crazy shots.

Other than that, I agree with the team analysis.

Meyers needs to work on his footwork more than anything..his shot form is great..good arc..sometimes when he misses he forgets to put his legs into the shot and shoots with his arms but he's talented shooting the ball

I get the Bol comparison in that Meyers three used to be very slow, like Bol's was.

I don't get the Vonleh/Griffin comparison at all. Griffin has and uses amazing hops, but has short arms. Vonleh has hops, but doesn't use them yet and has much longer arms. Griffin has had a game based on athleticism and elevation; Vonleh is more about movement and length.

Yeah, that confused me too. But the part about Vonleh needs to realize he isn't a small forward is correct...assuming he ever thought that in the first place. He needs to put his big bumper to good use under the basket, and learn some touch on his shot. He kind of reminds me of Zach a little bit with those long arms and the moves he makes, but no one has Zach's touch around the basket.

I could see Vonleh's ceiling being "Uber-Zach". You are right about Zach's amazing touch, but Vonleh adds range, ball-handling and a desire and ability to play defense.

You got all that from watching a few preseason games?

I believe he is similar to ZBO. Longer arms though for sure. He should watch footage and learn some of his post moves.

Man we need to start a bring back Mixum thread. You don't miss that guy?

You don't think Vonleh has better range and handles than Zach at this stage? I watched Zach at this stage too. And I watched (and liked) both Vonleh and Zach in college.

ZBO is solid out to 20 feet, or do you mean after just 1 season in the league? ZBO came in raw, but having to practice against Sheed and those guys really helped. If Vonleh can become HALF the player Zach has become, I'd be happy!

Vonleh looks like he has a lot of potential to me, but he still seems to lack composure/confidence, like he is a little unsure of what he is supposed to be doing. Once he gets settled in, I am hoping we see his game flourish a bit.

They're all crazy bitches. Stats, experts, scouts, analytics, player rankings, blah blah.....whatever.

The sum of the parts can exceed the ingredients.

The new Blazers look like they are going to work hard on D, go after rebounds, have big men that actually give a shit about contesting shots, setting screens, and rotating defensively. Hustle, scrap (lol), effort and lots of running means easy baskets because they sure aren't coming from jump shots or at the FT line.

No certainty in any of this ever, but they may surprise some people. When do playoff tickets go on sale?

Signed,
Homer Magspeed
