Opposing Teams Scouts Break Down Blazers

ZBO is solid out to 20 feet, or do you mean after just 1 season in the league? ZBO came in raw, but having to practice against Sheed and those guys really helped. If Vonleh can become HALF the player Zach has become, I'd be happy!

Zach wasn't hitting threes when he was Vonleh's age. Zach has touch that Vonleh may never have, but his range and ball-handling are better than Zach's are now, let alone at the same age. They have some similarities and some differences. There is no doubt that right now Zach is a better player, but that isn't really the comparison we are looking for.

It will be interesting to see how Lillard deals with the loosing when he was use to winning his previous years in Portland though.

Von just need time on the floor and watch his ball go through the hoop and he will build his confidence. Right now he not sure when to take shots. Last night he had couple open look and he hesitate to shoot the ball. He need to not think to much and just play.

yeah, the Meyers description doesn't seem to match up with reality.

His shot is slow, sure, but it's not ugly, nor does he take "crazy" shots.

I think the scout is poorly saying this: He takes shots that centers shouldn't take traditionally; the look crazypants toeven take. But he succeeds in those "crazy shots" by having the best shot selection in the game, period. He didn't play 1500 minutes last year, so people discount his 50/40/90 year, but he played way more minutes than the fluke 50/40/90 guys on the list.

The new Blazers look like they are going to work hard on D, go after rebounds, have big men that actually give a shit about contesting shots, setting screens, and rotating defensively.
This, I like!

I'm becoming a fan of the Davis, Vonleh combo on the floor..one guy with lower body strength and defensive rebounds that plays below the rim, one guy can play above it and is an offensive rebounder, put back guy..when these guys get it going, they are are solid duo.

Though it's interesting to see a non-blazer fan take note of the calls Damian doesn't get. Some players, get a whistle if you breath on them.

nba scouts take the wrong guys in the draft all the time.

Still waiting to hear back from you In accepting those bets ;)

Most teams have separate scouts for NBA and college. They guys who watch other NBA players are looking at tendencies and habits of pro players, college scouts are looking for traits that might translate to the next level. Different skill sets and objectives - and yes there is some overlap, but dismissing what advance scouts are saying about the Blazers because their college scout counterparts fuck up in the draft all the time, misses something.

Sure, I know this. But it was an easy (and lazy) comparison that scouts fuck up a lot. I mean, the takes they had on Leonard are pretty off.

I'd say it's a good thing if nba scouts are thinking we will be terrible. Hopefully they chaulk up a win when they see us and don't know how to gameplan for us for awhile.

In the end, I don't see us winning 20-25 games. I think 30 is more likely.

Half of Zach sounds like an awful player.

I don't know about awful. Zach is pretty good these days even with his D deficiencies, but I still want more out of Vonleh than that. Id rather see more of a Rasheed Wallace type play and if so, half to 3/4 of Wallace and I would be happy.

I bet you $100 that the Blazers would win at least 20 games by the All Star break.

I have the blazers winning 30-34 games in the year... My fear about this bet is that we only have 6 home games in december... vs 11 road games in that month (one 4 game trip, one 5 gamer), against teams like OKC, Cleveland, Miami (eh), Milwuakee (I like that team, personally.), and NOLA.

They do make it up in January with only 4 road games. and actually, aside from the LAC, OKC, and GS games, it's a pretty easy January, IMO.

(I did this stream of consciousness).

I think they'd have 20 wins by the ASB. It'll be close, but I think they will. That said, I'm not doing any betting.

Doesn't matter. I didn't bet you. I bet HCP.

I think the majority of the wins will come after the allstar break and the first half will be trial by fire and roster experimentation

Put the money where the mouth is! :)
Not that I don't disagree. 20 by all star break, 42 by end of season!

Speaking of "some players", I forget, but didn't Dame get called for a foul on the play D-Wade crashed into Dame and injured him last season?

I understand. I was flowing with Orion. I was seeing if it was viable to even think about it for me. I wasn't anyway, just did it for fun.

Check it out dude...I have predicted 43 all along..I just think we'll pick up momentum this season instead of drop off like last season
