Blazers decline options on Eliott Williams, Nolan Smith and Luke Babbitt according to GM Neil Olshey

Decisions to decline options motivated by cap flexibility, Olshey says. He figures Blazers will have between 11 and 13 million in summer

Good. I like it when management doesn't behave incompetently.

A wise move considering Williams injury history. The other two are no brainers.

It would be funny if we used that $$ to throw at Pekovic. Not saying we should do it, but Kahn Olshey part II would be entertaining, no?

I think that when Nolan get comfortable, he'll be a fine NBA player. Hopefully, we'll do well and re-sign him after using our cap space.

I have thought about this same senario. If Blazers need a starting big man for next year, next summer we get to do to Minny, with Pek, what they did to us this summer with Batum.

I could see Allen love that kind of situation.

Good. Babbit hasn't shown much other than shooting the long ball. Nolan sucks as a pg. And Elliot took over Oden's injury suite next to the Blazers bench.

Keep the flexibility and become a player in the next FA period.

Pekovic looks like the most realistic target after Harden. It will be interesting to see how he does this year. We could sign him instead of JJ Hickson.

I expect Hickson to start the first half of the season for our team as a way of driving up his value. Then get something for him at the trade deadline while keeping our cap flexibility. Possibly sign Pekovic during FA.

Hickson can't be traded hobbes without his permission as he's on a one year contract.

Management followed Dwight's golden rule:

Hopefully the Blazers realize no high end FA will come here, and trade for an elite type player in a lopsided salary trade this deadline

we are only 2.6 mil under the cap, , we will have 11-13 mil in capspace this summer, it will be hard to do a big lopsided deal at this year's deadline. We have some small expirings but that will likely not get it done.

I knew that. I'm an idiot.

Maybe if we aren't top 3 or 4 in the lottery we deal that pick for an older established player from a team looking to deal salary?

from memory next summer will not be all that good a FA pool, especially at positions we might go after. So perhaps a lopsided trade, with our pick, would be an avenue Olshey will explore. Much will depend on how guys like Wes and Batum perform this year, I assume Lillard will have a good rookie year. Amd Meyer's progression this year will IMO be important as well

Well, I have now come to understand why you're just mediocre, lol. We already dealt the pick and it's top 12 protected. :sherlock:

So as I said, if the pick is top 4, we should use it. If it is 5-12 it's still ours, and we can still deal it, or deal the player we select for another team there.
