Well, this thread also has a bunch of posts from anti-Trump types who can't follow simple instructions.
This thread is filled with lobbed up softballs.....and the other two guys have stopped posting...el prez is at the prom without a date again! I'm here to show him solidarity....it's like...I see the softballs and I didn't swing at them....I can follow any snowflake rule here if it keeps this a safe space for even just one Blazer fan...empathy....I mean it's bad enough he has to live in LA....doing that and being a Trump supporter is like having a root canal and frontal lobotomy at the same time....I feel your pain el prez! It will pass one day!

This part bothers me. I certainly don’t agree with those who support Trump, but if this place simply drives everyone away that we don’t agree with, what’s the point?

The problem with lobbing stones from the shadows is eventually you run out of stones and just have the shadows

The problem with thinking that that your opponents’ thoughts are always wrong is that you’re always wrong.

Just to be clear, I’m not aiming that at you, riverman. I just find in general that there is less tolerance of other ideas around here than there used to be.

What would tolerance for other ideas look like? I try to be respectful of other people's ideas when I think they're good faith and not deeply harmful/insulting to other people, but many of the "opposing" (i.e. opposing liberal ideas) posts are filled with toxic nonsense these days. Either straight racism or a trivialization of racism.

If someone wants to have a rational discussion about which social programs make sense and which are wasteful, or what police reform should look like, I'd be perfectly tolerant of ideas that disagreed with mine. But that, largely, is not where the arena of ideas is taking us.

To call a spade a spade, if we're losing racist or "racism doesn't exist, libtards" or "whites are the persecuted race" posters, I think that's fine. That doesn't add much to a sane discussion.

Both the Orange Man Great and Orange Man Bad were designated as safe spaces for those who are supporting and not supporting Trump to share news and thoughts without having to argue. All other threads are open for discussion but these are designated safe spaces.

I know this is a hard concept for libs on this board to understand, but:

1. People will have different opinions than you and are entitled to them
2. You won't be able to change those opinions

The safest way to preserve the integrity of these safe space threads is to lock them both...everyone knows locked spaces are safer than unlocked spaces...you can demand it ...it's your right!

I certainly am not pointing at you Minstrel and I’m not asking anyone to let racist posts pass. I’m talking about losing Mags, who can while full of crap a good part of the time. isn’t mean in his opinions. I’m also talking about how some board regulars won’t post in OT anymore because they don’t like the atmosphere and feel like differing opinions are shouted down.

I agree that mags isn't mean, but I also have a hard time saying he posts in good faith. His posting had a firm dose of "pwn the libtards" to it, rather than a sincere desire to debate the merits of anything.

I feel like conservatives (or center-right people) like you or PtldPlatypus are treated with respect, because you guys discuss actual issues in a rational manner (apologies if either "conservative" or "center-right" doesn't describe you--that's been how I've perceived your viewpoints, but I realize I could be wrong). What types of issues do you feel that well-meaning conservatives give opinions on that get "shouted down?"

When is the last time you saw PtldPlatypus post here? Or TorturedBlazerFan? Those are two who come to mind. There are probably others. As far as topics go, it might be good to have some discussions about today’s racial climate without being called a racist if you question the orthodox left wing positions. I’ve come to accept the legitimacy of the white privilege issue once I was able to understand exactly what was meant by it. Getting to that understanding entailed reading some pretty ugly posts that had zero tolerance of my lack of understanding. Reparations? That would be an interesting topic that I have zero doubt would fly off the rails. How long is it reasonable for a city to be shut down by demonstrations and rioting? What is the relationship of the rioting to the protesting? Antifa? Etc.

And then there’s the whole political scene. There are a few “I’m not a Democrat” posters around here who would seemingly rather eat glass than give an inch about the Democrats’ platform issues.

I don’t know that it’s possible for this place to become a place for the legitimate discussion of today’s topics. It seems like we’ve gone a long way down the road of intolerance on both sides, which kills discussions. Too bad, IMHO.

And yet I get along with Mags great even though we are at opposite ends of the political spectrum.
No, my vote is that Mags is a good person.

HERES THE LINK IF YOU WANT TO DONATE

https://www.gofundme.com/f/buy-goya...stomer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf

UPDATE*: Thank you everyone for helping us surpass our goal! I have an in-person meeting with a Goya executive today. I would like to use some of the funds to support local grocery stores, but we are also planning to buy directly from GOYA because of the unexpectedly large volume. We expect to begin purchasing as soon as possible, and will have video and pictures of the process so everyone can see the results! Our purchase will focus on rice, beans and canned goods and will be delivered to several food pantries in the Washington, DC area so they can handle the volume. Also, because of the added volume, donations beyond the $150K mark will go to pantries beyond the Washington DC area.

ORIGINAL POST:

Donated funds will be used to buy GOYA products that will be given to food pantries in the Washington, DC area. What if we rise up to say no to cancel culture AND feed the hungry at the same time?

----

On July 9th GOYA CEO Robert Unanue said we are "truly blessed" to have President Trump.

Unanue said he will not apologize and that he also said the same about Obama:

“So, you’re allowed to talk good or to praise one president, but you’re not allowed to aid in economic and educational prosperity? And you make a positive comment and all of a sudden, that’s not acceptable."

Now GOYA is facing a boycott that could cost the CEO his job. The liberal mob is coming for anyone who disagrees. Cancel culture at its worst. We need to have our voice heard!

Share and Donate NOW before it's too late! Thanks so much!
