Insurance companies in Oregon would be required to cover abortions and other reproductive services at no cost to the patient regardless of income, citizenship status or gender identity under a measure approved Wednesday by lawmakers.

Oregon already has some of the most liberal abortion laws in the U.S., leaving out otherwise common requirements for waiting periods or spending limits on taxpayer funds.

"gender identity"....ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Ben shapiro and I happen to share the same ideas on this subject...

Hey, that's good for tourism. Maybe Virgin Airlines will bring illegals from all over the world for abortions.

Do they get health insurance cards when they land?

This one will be headed to the Supreme Court I suspect.

And why is gender identity important? The fetus they want to destroy is proof enough isn't it?

Huh, I wonder if this will open the door to requiring insurance to cover cosmetic plastic surgery. After all that and abortion are choices.

Isn't Oregon wonderful? So caring. Just imagine, a place in the world where anyone can come and get an abortion. Let's hear it! Does that feel good?

The upside for me is, Democrats do this.

Just because you're not a citizen doesn't mean that you're illegal.

And employers that hire illegals still have to provide them medical insurance if they work full time.

Sure it does. Unless they have a work permit, Green Card.

Naw! Not unless the employer has 50 or more employees (might be 40).
Even then, who is going to bitch?

Yeah, I'm sure the employers that hire illegals all follow the other rules. Just not that one.

I am pro choice, but I don't see why the government needs to get involved.
Because people are idiots and don't know how to be responsible people. A shame education is terrible in this country

Insurers will cover it. Some won't. If you want it covered, you know which company to buy from.

teenager or young college student who's been raped might not have a lot of luck shopping or much expendable income to choose coverage...."Hi! I'm pregnant and a victim of sexual assault....I'm in high school and if my parents find out they'll kick me out of the house....can I pay you later when I graduate and get a job?".....click....dial tone

In other words, treat abortion like any other medical procedure. Decision made by patient in consultation with doctor and any others patient may choose to involve, covered by insurance. Like appendectomy. Or prostate surgery. Insurers just love to separate women from "people". I've had insurance plans that covered every prescription except contraceptives, even when used for non-birth control reasons. Every surgery but abortion. Every condition but pregnancy. Vasectomy but not tubal ligation.

Thank you, Oregon, for considering women people. Maybe when I retire in a year or two I'll move north.

Another delusional post. Have you ever known anyone that lost 200 lbs? They need skin removal surgery afterwards. Good luck getting it paid for unless you get sores or infections or something.

They deem it not medically necessary or call it cosmetic.

If you're lucky enough that they will pay for it they generally make you wait a long time to prove you'll keep the weight off.

What surgery would you deem it ok for them to decline coverage for?

Nose jobs?
Penis enlargement?

Not covering birth control pills prescribed for a legitimate medical need is kinda shitty but they do all kinds of shitty things to save money. But you think it's just because it's for women. Ok....
