Portland has had a bad heroin problem since the mid-90's as far as I know. One of my best friends got hooked & he's a total loser junkie still 12 years later.

You could walk down to Burnside and pick up a balloon of dope, cross the street to the mission where they gave out clean needles, and shoot up on the water front under the bridge. So convenient!

Here are the two best songs about heroin. And yes, it has been a huge problem here for a long time. My old drummer got really into it. Sold his drums, his 4,000 dollar marimbas, lost his everything. He went back to southern Oregon and got his life together. He is living back in Portland now and has a wife and has been clean ever since.

Its really sad though, a few friends of mine that I went to high school with got caught up with the oxycontin and eventually heroin. I cut them off as a friend when all they would think about was getting their next pill. I tried Oxycontin once, didn't understand the appeal so I never did it again.
