Since no one has c&p the Wall Street Journal article I mentioned in my first post, I will post a summary.

Over a decade ago, Brazil passed very strick gun control laws that are very similar to the OR law proposed in the op.

The results are, Brazil now has just about the lowest gun ownership in Latin America. Very few private citizens now own guns. Buying a gun is next to impossible.

However, in the last 5 years, 200,000 people in Brazil were killed with guns. Over 68,000 last year.

Violent crime with guns has skyrocketed. Some businesses are getting robbed at gunpoint 6 times a year.

Armed home robberies also greatly increased.

In short, the only ones now with guns in Brazil are the criminals. And the criminals are running wild.

There is a movement now on to make it much easier for the innocent public to again own guns. So they can protect their families, property and businesses.

I'm sorry but that looks like it could have come out of Brokeback Mountain.
OMG, I just checked it out and it is out of Brokeback Mountain. I wonder if Maris would like to take his 'like' back.

Actually you attacked me for merely pointing out the obvious downside to such an anti-Constitutional, life-threatening move to overthrow our country.

So that might be interpreted as you supporting this anti-Constitutional, life-threatening move to overthrow our country.

Judgement call.
Huh?

I don't think the characters in Brokeback Mountain liked city dwelling liberals any more than the rest of us. Are you impugning their character because they were gay?

And Maris too?

Rude

LMAO. It's idiotic posts like this that crack me up. Making shit up seems to be a trumpish behaviour and you and maris sure are experts at it.

Making shit up?
He gave his opinion of the movie and then asked two questions..

It was someone else that insinuated that since that movie had actors portraying gay cowboys someone else would wouldnt agree with the statement because of a prejudice.

And who is the "rest of us"? He is fine giving his opinion about what he thinks, but when he includes a large group that he has no idea what their stance is, then it is bull shit. Just giving him back some of his own medicine.

No, so, not rude. Best to check those things out before you label people.

Echoing CupWizier, who is "the rest of us"? The rest of the hicks who are bigoted? (please note, neither hicks nor bigots refer to all country people).

The characters were gay. The rest of us is straight.

He was saying, just because they are gay doesnt mean they feel the need for social agendas. They still enjoyed/ wanted thier independant freedom.

Pretty clear to me what he was saying.

Umm the labeling started with lanny labeling Maris....
Read above.

This is the type of hypocrisy i was referring to when we talked before cup.

The thread clearly shows that lanny used the brokeback mountian to call out maris over an assumed prejudice against gays.
Body questioned that and you are now saying he is labeling when its plainly clear lanny labeled maris.

Im dumbfounded and comfused as to how some here connect certain dots.

Well, it wasn't to me thus my response. I don't read peoples minds as I can only read their words.

No one is gonna take all your little guns away. The US isn’t going to become Brazil. It’s so ridiculous every time anyone tries to create some form of common sense gun control people immediately think the govt is going to go door to door collecting guns

I've never seen it.
It isn't really worth seeing if you already know the story.

I watch any movie that gets raved about. Usually one like this is a letdown if it is just raved about for breaking barriers.

It was but the movie isn't terrible by any stretch.

I introduced the dog to Pulp Fiction last night. I don't think she understood it.

My little buddy had his teeth cleaned and his shots yesterday. He sat next to me while I played God Of War on the big screen and growled at the monsters. Think he was still loopy.

Common sense is completely missing in the OR bill.

That wasn't an attack, that was solid advice. Attacking and killing police would not turn out well for you at all. You would be better off hiding yourself and your guns.

My post made no mention of attacking and killing police.

EXACT OPPOSITE in fact.

As for hiding, that's never sage advice. Hiding is a union of lying, fear and cowardice.

Honesty and steadfastness are always the best policies.

Lol. Make a joke about @Lanny inferring that Maris is a homophobe and I'm the bad guy.

At least @Orion Bailey got it.
Whoosh. I miss a lot of jokes. Comes from having a family that spoke in confusing ways. I learned to trust nothing but the bare truth. My weakness and I have many.

Lanny. I know most of the guys here are city dwelling liberals. 80 percent of my posts are probably joking in one way or another. I don't always tell people when I'm joking and they miss it or half of my posts would be that type.

I generally view your posts with a sarcastic lens. In fact, it's like talking with a group of my friends I've known since middle school.

Well, they go right over my head and that's not your fault. It's one of the thousands of faults I'm working on improving.
My main fault is that I don't consider myself to be a good enough Christian. I pray every Sunday to be a better Christian and a better man. This means that I hope to learn to tolerate those that disagree with me better. I use to be better at tolerating those that I disagreed with and I want to get back to that. After all, I believe that every life matters even those I disagree with.
So, truth be told, I care about everyone in here and if I don't express that at least once in a while than I'm failing at what I believe and cherish. Do I fail? Oh God, yes, all too often. My only redeeming quality is that I want to improve.

But you still have me on ignore for simply disagreeing with you about where the homeless camps are around town. Lol.

Looks good to me. Hard to find the issue that is making the gun lovers pissed, but oh well.
Probably the fact that it outright bans half the guns people already own and places extremely stringent regulations on the rest. It makes gun ownership extremely complicated to the point where people can hardly own them without the fear of being penalized and punished. It is a not-so-sly, backhanded method of prohibition through regulation.

I hope @Lanny takes you off of ignore. I barely remember you ever being over the top rude in here if at all.

I recently took the only person I had on ignore off because it was becoming too difficult to read the main board with all the drama he is involved in. Name calling, hall monitor moderating or just plain bitching about everything. Uggh.

Mainly I'd click show ignored content and then have to do it on every page. Got tedious.
