Since no one has c&p the Wall Street Journal article I mentioned in my first post, I will post a summary.
Over a decade ago, Brazil passed very strick gun control laws that are very similar to the OR law proposed in the op.
The results are, Brazil now has just about the lowest gun ownership in Latin America. Very few private citizens now own guns. Buying a gun is next to impossible.
However, in the last 5 years, 200,000 people in Brazil were killed with guns. Over 68,000 last year.
Violent crime with guns has skyrocketed. Some businesses are getting robbed at gunpoint 6 times a year.
Armed home robberies also greatly increased.
In short, the only ones now with guns in Brazil are the criminals. And the criminals are running wild.
There is a movement now on to make it much easier for the innocent public to again own guns. So they can protect their families, property and businesses.
