I can understand not liking the Ducks if you're a Beavers fan, but rooting for Auburn is pretty fucked up. I know a lot of Ducks fans who rooted for the Beavs in the World Series. Are you so bitter that you can't root for a team from your state against a team with a cheater at the helm?

No it's not at all like that. This is Oregon's first trip to the championship. Maybe if the Lakers were in Oregon, but these are two schools from our state. Neither one has ever done anything like this.

I know Beaver fans would hate to see the Ducks with the championship. The Ducks would have bragging rights for life. That's the last thing the Beavers want to hear about.

Beavers fans presumably want to be competitive with Oregon again in their lifetime... a national title would elevate Oregon to a different level (even moreso than right now) and make the in-state rivalry potentially VERY one-sided.

I can see why some Beavers fans would want to root for Oregon to lose just to get Ducks fans to shut up, also

I would root for any Pac-10 team against any non-Pac-10 team. But I'm not the bottom in this relationship, so I have no perspective on them.

Beavers having bitterness towards the Ducks seems an integral part of their fandom. Most every fan base has a most hated villain opponent... UW is of course ours. The puddles vote contest seems evidence that our rivals are rallying against this being the year of the Duck in whatever feeble way they can. Personally I find the bitterness sort of entertaining especially when it's directed at me from someone I'm just meeting as I've rooted for the Beavers and Ducks since grade school.

anyhoo, what an incredible year to be a Duck fan. It's been 25 years since I went to my first game... just amazing to have witnessed their rise.

Same here. I'm not an alum & I haven't spent more than a day down in Eugene or Corvallis to become biased. Of course if I was a sheep farmer and some Beaver players kept "harassing" them, I'd probably learn to hate the Beavs. Or if I had my laptop stolen by some Ducks, I'd probably hate them a bit too. As it is, I enjoy watching the trash talk between both sides, especially at work where there are some real die hards there.
