OT "Oregon" - Two Syllables or Three?

In the ‘50’s and ‘60’s there was popular bumper sticker (might have been affiliated with U of O but I’m not sure) that read “Orygun”. I grew up with that was the phonetically correct pronunciation and it still works for me......
It appears somewhat logically correct but definitely not phonetic. The correct international phonetic pronunciation of the 'ee' sound is 'i'. I learned that from my Korean teacher who acted as the interpreter for the President of South Korea when he visited Seattle.

Obviously, it's not Or-uh-gone.

I say Ore-gun.

I've heard it pronounced Or-ih-gun, though.
Just don't pronounce it Oree-gone, which drives me temporarily insane. You might not like me in that state if you're the one who pronounced it that way.

When I lived in New Jersey, everyone in Ft. Monmouth pronounced it Tren- ton, including the one in my platoon who was born and raised in New Jersey.
That's Ft. Monmouth. Trentonians and the gumba's in the north say Tret ton or Tret un.
