I have to really question USC's motivation for this game. They had all this "unfinished business" to take care of, ie, the Natty, and now they are fully locked out. Yeah, they have an outside shot at the Rose Bowl but my guess is that they see it as the boobie prize for this season.

Now, to be sure, they will be motivated to take out Oregon at home... but I have a feeling if we can jump on them early they'll roll over and play dead. It is usually the personality of a poorly coached and underachieving team- and that defines USC.

USC doesn't have the shot to be in the Rose bowl. They will have 3 losses if they lose to the ducks, and another loss if they make it to the Pac-12 title game if they play the ducks again.

They could have 3 regular season losses. Make the PAC 12 title game, win that, and make the Rose Bowl.

But not if the Beavs lose to the ducks and win the rest of the season? Beavs would have two losses compared to USC with three.

doesnt matter. They wouldnt be Pac 12 Champions. It would go to USC if they won that game. OSU in your scenario wouldnt have the chance to be conference champs, even with one less loss than USC

I forgot too that USC plays Notre Dame (another potential loss) at the end of the season. USC's running game has been hurt as they aren't as strong as they were in the beginning. I think USC is still over ranked with their current loss to Arizona this past weekend.

According to Stewart Mandel of SI....
Current BCS forecast
Each week, I'll update my projected BCS lineup (as necessary) based on the latest week's games. Here's my current edition:

Title game: Alabama vs. Oregon
Rose: Nebraska vs. Oregon State
Fiesta: Kansas State vs. Notre Dame
Sugar: Florida vs. Louisville
Orange: Florida State vs. Boise State

You know it was a crazy week when Oregon State lost its first game (20-17 at Washington) and moved into my projections. Unless USC beats both Oregon and Notre Dame, the Beavers may be the Pac-12's lone hope of producing a second top-14 team. And sure, throw Nebraska into the mix as well. The Huskers (6-2, 3-1) took control of the Big Ten Legends Division with a 23-9 win over Michigan.

Ah in your scenario Oregon wins out and goes to the BCS Championship game in which case yes the Rose Bowl would have the option bypassing USC and taking OSU. Reading comprehension fail on my part. I was thinking you meant USC doesnt have a chance at all for the Rose Bowl A loss to Notre Dame wouldnt affect USC representing the South or not though.

There is no way that Cupcake State is playing in a BCS bowl this year.

I'm going to the game myself. Should I wear my Duck hat and risked getting shanked?

no worries. Hope they are good seats. Enjoy basking in Ducks victory!

I smell a victory here. The Ducks have just been crushing teams in only a quarter and a half. No one has really had to face them for 4 quarters.

Only thing that will kill us is turnovers. Let's hope Mariota is as "unflappable" as Chip Kelly says.
