Here is something found....Stepan can not use ROR by name to compare himself to ROR, but he can still use the contract as a measuring stick for his own proposal. Either way you know his asking price will be similar to ROR. The Rangers will low ball their offer and the arbitrator will find a medium

Saad and Stepan are good comparables. Stepan is no better than Saad. I have no issues giving him 6 million. Over 6, no. That's the line.

There is no way you can keep a good team together with the current salary cap + these escalating contracts

Exactly my point. You can be 100% responsible with the cap and contracts and still be able to keep only 4 or 5 main core guys if you want a good enough deep team. The cap is too low and restrictive. It will hurt the game..mark my words. Fans will get turned off by it.

Unfortunately, economics and mainly the Canadian dollar vs the US dollar is a huge determining factor in the cap.
