What a garbage hire when Beau Baldwin was available

Do we know whether or not he was interviewed and offered or are we just speculating?

A lot of reports said he was interviewed. Couple days ago OreonLive even reported it was all but done deal he would be hired.

I would have gave him the job atleast he’s coached a program before and was really successful at Eastern. Guy was beating Pac 12 teams

Maybe he turned them down? :dunno:

I wouldn't wanna coach Oregon's lil' red headed stepchild.

Jezus, that's the best they could do?

Le Sigh

There's no way OSU CHOSE Smith over Baldwin. No way in hell.

Don't get too carried away though. Lots and lots of Oregon fans shit their pants when they hired Taggart.

Well, Canzano just implied that Riley or Erickson will be on the coaching staff.

God willing it won't be Hip Hip Hooray.

I think it's a good hire. Lots of potential, he is the one who developed Browning at UW. Idk how well he recruits but OSU isn't a school that's gonna get more than 1 or 2 four star kids a draft class anyway. Their bread and butter is turning that 2/3 star kid into an NFL caliber player over a span of years. If Smith can bring that level of development and coaching then OSU can be bowl bound in a 2-3 seasons.

Step one for both Oregon schools..

Change your name.

If it was a tossup between the Ducks and the Huskies for example. Huskies are way cooler

I am wondering if Baldwin is holding out for the WSU job. Lot of speculation that Leach could be moving on. Apparently Tennessee might be is interested. The holdup is Leach's history of suing his old employer. I doubt he goes anywhere though.

Disney Ducks are Kool

OSU's original mascot was a Coyote, before it was changed to a Beaver.

I think that was a bad move. Obviously, Coyotes are one hell of a lot more athletic than Beavers.

Yeah the Ducks have really been hurt by their brand........
Didn't say they were. They got MONEY and almost won it all. Just think about the possibility that one kid went somewhere else because he didn't wanna be a DUCK.

What if one kid meant losing?

I don't think kids give a fuck about that lol cause if they did why the hell would they wanna be a Crimson Tide, a buckeye, a cornhusker, or a Hurricane?

Is this 1979 ? Your argument is no longer valid. (If it ever was)

None of those sound stupid. Cool? Maybe not.

They're just goofy names.

If names were all the mattered the Cougars would be the best team in the NW, or the Huskies.

If you were an NBA free agent and narrowed it down to the Pelicans and the Heat and they were a complete tie.

Just being able to tell girls you play for the Heat would be better.

Oh, and Hurricane is a million times better than being a Beav. Gimme a break ya Oregonians.

Oh yeah, to answer. Facilities, coaches, payola all kinds of shit.

I'm just saying Ducks and Beavers are goofy names that nobody would pick today.
