Damn, that sucks. I grew to really enjoy listening to Blazer games on FM vs AM during those times I couldn't watch them on TV.

Now that the Blazers are done and Rome is off the station, I haven't even turned the dial there in a week or so.

We lost the Playhouse for this move and now they are moving again?

FML

750 KXL recently moved to FM, they took over 101 KUFO's station. If you want to hear the difference in quality between AM and FM just listen to 750 AM then switch over to 101.1 FM.

hopefully they boost their reception. I barely can get KXL.

The station GM was just on the Game,

The 60,000 people who bought the 95.5 the Game app are going to have to buy the new 750 the Game app.

Hahahahaha!

the best day of the year for me was when they yanked rome, now i can't listen to ducks or blazers at work any more, doh!

Well, that's the end of me listening to that station for anything but Duck and Blazer games. AM Radio? That still exists?

So, if KXL moved to 101.1 won't the Game be broadcast there, so it stays on FM?

ok so I'm an idiot.. is everything moving to AM? Or just live games?

If 95.5 FM is shutting down and moving to AM, that's the last I'll ever hear it. No way I'll be able to pick that up where I live. Nor would I want to. Brilliant marketing move.

This has been in the works for a long time, though I don't know how they can afford all the payroll for the local shows with a much smaller reach.

dang yeah I wont be hearing them anymore. Cant reach most AM from my car here. And I cant stream online at work and cant get unlimited Internet on my phone. Goodbye sweet Sports radio

with AM just crank the trebble n bass, sounds more 'FMy'

:)

Despite my best efforts to support radio, it really is a dead format. (Forgive my political leanings, they're for example only) In Eugene we had a great Air America station that I used to listen to every morning in the car, and then they sold it to OPB. Then they had a great FM sports station which had all the best local shows cut. Then I moved back to Portland after school and wanted to listen to Loveline on 94.7 and within a few months they changed that over too. Then they cancelled all the good programming on Portland's Air America. Now, just as I'm thrilled to not have to listen to Rome anymore they go and render The Game completely useless to me. I can't get a damned AM signal most of the places I drive.

I'm just going to download an assload of books on tape and hope they get me through the rest of my driving life now. It is so hard to support an obsolete format when they screw up everything that seems to work. I'm just really glad I popped a Valium before reading this thread or I would have had an aneurism.

Who cares? The entire days programming on that station can easily be summed up in a half hour. They repeat the same crap over and over.

Imagine if you're someone who doesn't get comcast and now doesn't get the Game now?

Granted, next year will be a lost season anyways, so maybe it's a good thing I won't be able to hear the sports talk shows. But when the season does start, I pretty much won't be able to hear the games unless I am on my roof.

Brian Jennings is turning out to be the biggest fucking retard ever.

They're still trying out people in that 10am to noon time slot. Next week Mychal Thompson is going to be filling in. If you've never heard Mychal on the radio he is fucking hilarious. He used to have a radio show with Kermit Washington years ago. Not kidding you it was one of the best sports talk shows ever!

The bad thing is Kermit does the Laker games on the radio down in LA so that means he'll be broadcasting from down there.

According to MIXUM the season's already over and it hasn't even started! :)

Goddamn, Mychal and Kermit was some of the funniest, greatest radio I've ever listened to, regardless of format. Those two played off of each other perfectly. If they could find a way to bring those two back together... ahhh, fuck it, they'll be on AM and I won't care.

RIP Sports Radio in Portland.

I know what you mean, it was their radio show that got me listening to talk radio. I'm surprised Mychal still hasn't made the jump to TV and that Kermit has just sort of disappeared.

What was fascinating is that Kermit came off as a genuinely nice guy and really really knowledgeable about basketball. He would have been a great assistant coach in the NBA but "The Punch" blackballed him from the league.
