You know Rick, I have long wondered where you got the moniker you oft use as a nickname....Kool man, not cool about the Orphanage, but the tie in to that classic great McQueen movie. One of my favorites, along with Cool Hand Luke...

Have you seen 'The Transporter" 3 trilogy movies, I'm betting you have, to the hilts, Statham takes action to a new level. Statham started out as a model, yet had time to obtain his 7th degree black belt, so his stunts come pretty damn natural. I can't say the same for old action stares, like Stallone, Willis, Schwarznegger, and about every one else.

Segal, Van Damme, and Norris both had the highest degree of belts they could get, Norris a World Champion tutored by the great Bruce Lee. Altho' I don't care for Norris movie, or his insane Walker Texas Ranger, my little brother watched that show so much, I can't watch or hear a episode without puking. I would bear it when he was a kid, with no problem tho'. You know how it is, one tends to have no qualms with the silly shows our kids watch, as long as they are not beyond the norm.

Yet, with past martial arts experiences, I have never seen a better actor with a martial arts background, who looks so normal, but CAN ACT.........therein lies the difference between Statham and the pack of aging actors he leaves in his dust..

Yep, Statham takes action beyond TO THE HILTS..

Growing up Steve McQueen was among my favorite actors. And I was surprised he wasn't nominated for anything for his performance in Papillon. For that matter Dustin Hoffman also. Great movie.

Its funny when I think about some of the well known actors early rolls in horror movies. McQueen in "The blob". Charles Bronson in "House of wax" & Clint Eastwood in "Revenge of the creature".

As far as martial arts, I'm a big fan of Jason Statham but I also enjoyed the cult favorite Billy Jack with Tom Laughlin who just passed away a few months ago.

My favorite Statham movie has to be Revolver. Has some very interesting quotes, my favorite being...

here is something about yourself that you don't know. Something that you will deny even exists until it's too late to do anything about it. It's the only reason you get up in the morning, the only reason you suffer the shitty boss, the blood, the sweat and the tears. This is because you want people to know how good, attractive, generous, funny, wild and clever you really are. "Fear or revere me, but please think I'm special." We share an addiction. We're approval junkies. We're all in it for the slap on the back and the gold watch. The "hip, hip, hoo-fucking-rah." Look at the clever boy with the badge, polishing his trophy. Shine on, you crazy diamond. Cos we're just monkeys wrapped in suits, begging for the approval of others.

All this time I thought you retired as a shithouse janitor scrubbing toilets.

Oh I forgot you also built, designed the new toilet, that reduces time for people to crap, by the suction jet within the toilet bowl, to suck the crap out of anyone's bowels. thus reducing down time. A normal crap being 2-5 minutes, with constipated folks reduced from 30 minutes, down to five minutes. Didn't you get a award for inventing that process improvement, improving production lee time??? LOL, brother, always J/K.

I will give you but one guess, what that Burger was made from last summer when I BBQ'd for your Family, the one you ate, that is...!

Has anyone ever told you Paul, the best part of you dripped down your Dad's leg??????

I am guessing you never saw me switch out burgers with you, that day!

Just saw Captain Phillips, excellent movie but DAMN! did they take liberties with this one. I read somewhere of guys that were actually there that said 80% of the movie is bullshit. But just for entertainment purposes, Very good flick.

The thing people need to know is that If the wind blew my door shut I could write an entire movie about paranormal activities And be able to say that its based in part on a true story because the WIND really did blow my door shut. Its really amazing what they can get away with & still say that its BASED on a true story.

Finally watched Wolf of Wall Street....absolutely fantastic. DiCaprio and Scorsese hit another home run. The Lemon Ludes scene was hysterical....the cerebral palsy phase was one of the funniest things I've seen since the chicken scene from the Hangover, or the tarantula scene from Home Alone. There are other scenes that make you laugh so hard it hurts, but few that make you Start laughing 30 seconds before the scene unfolds while rewatching the movie.

...I remember when the "Lemon" ludes ran out and were replaced with "Rorer"...they were never the same again.

Has anyone seen 'Transcendence'?

Is it as good as the trailers reveal?

(oh shit bob, it has to be at least as good as its trailers....)

good is a relative term.

Ha! Lemmon 714 came after Rorer, both 300mg doses. After Lemmon stopped making them, counterfits from Mexico may have been a little more potent.

...ya know what, now that I think of it, you're right...I had it bass-ackwards. Rorer WAS the original methaqualone. Maybe I did more than I should have...lol... Still the best drug I ever did, along with hemp, which I still use in the evenings sometime to help me sleep like a baby.

Surprised it hasn't made a comeback, easy to synthesize.

...the thing I really like about them was that you could drink all you wanted on a Fri or Sat night but if you also did a "lude" (or "disco biscuits" as we called them)...you would sleep like you wouldn't believe and wake up the next morning feeling great, no hangover.
...the down side was driving while on ludes...you THOUGHT you were driving OK, but in reality you were all over the road. Still don't know how I and/or my friends didn't get killed from doing those things. I recall that a running buddy and I stayed out one night late drinking while doing ludes. He had a brand new Lincoln Mark IV or V and he called me up the next morning and asked me I was OK and if knew what happened to his car and I said "no"... so he said "You need to come over, you ain't gonna believe this shit"...so I went over to his apartment which was near mine. The whole right side (the side I was on) was absolutely destroyed and one of the right side tires was flat and had obviously been driven on so far that most of the rubber was gone...neither of us had any recollection of what had happedned the night before...we were lucky.

Great story 59-LMAO  :pimp:
I often wonder how any of us ever survived the days of our wild and younger years.

...oh, I have many other stories of my youthful years and my self destructive behavior. Now, when I think about them, all I can do is shake my head and say to myself, "WTF were you thinking"...no way I should be alive.

Its like they say Ron, if you remember the 60s....you weren't there.

Life before the nanny state. I'm am 100% OK with shedding all these fucking rules and going back to when life meant living, risks accepted.

...finally watched Capt. Phillips last night...pretty intense.

It was a very good movie but they took a lot of liberties with it. Much of which (from what I heard & read) never happened or was at the least exaggerated. But all in all a very enjoyable movie.

I finally got to see Dallas buyers club. And DAMN! you could understand why he won best actor. And why Leto won best supporting actor. 2 excellent performances.

...oh yeah, I'm sure they spiffed up the real story to suit the movie.

...and yeah, aside from acting out his role, Matt had to lose a ton of weight...he really looked like someone who had been stricken with AIDS.

...and Leto was great too...as a man, how do you prepare yourself to portray a trans-gender guy/girl?...and you have to figure that when he first read the script, something in his head said, "Yeah, I want that role".

Solid movies for sure. You go into movies like Captain Phillips knowing they're going to throw some Hollywood in there. As long as they completely rewrite history it's all good. The overrated movie I thought was Wolf of Wall Street.

All is lost with Robert Redford, very disappointed. It was basically a silent movie. Which makes sense since Redford is the only actor in the movie & is set on the water with no one to talk to. So all you really hear is the sound of the water. In a word, it SUCKED!

...Wolf was OK but a bit over the top IMO, good story and all but what tainted it for me was knowing that Dicaprio was in it...just not a big fan of his.

Not a Leo fan? Have you seen Django Unchained? He's turning 40 this year, your gonna see a lot of him.
