He was a great player. I'll never forget his Game 1 of the 2001 NBA Finals. He was the only guy who could beat the Lakers during that playoffs.

LOVED Iverson in his prime. Anyone who derides him didn't watch him be a magician on the court. If he was Lebron-sized he'd be top-5 all-time.

It just occurred to me...His coach Larry Brown met a similar fate! He had to regress to college.

Allen Iverson is one of the best players in recent history not to win a ring. He led a 76ers team to the NBA Finals that wouldn't have made the playoffs without him. Who was the second best player on that team? Eric Snow? Tyrone Hill? Aaron McKie? Those teams were awful without AI.

At the same time, Iverson was flawed, immature, and overly selfish for most of his career, and for that reason, he couldn't attract quality free agents to join him in Philly. Even so, I'll remember him as a fearless finisher and an unbelievable scorer.
