The guy has been sensational since they traded Jamison. And the Wizards are winning!

Since the All Star break, he has had the following games:

33 pts (14-22 FGs), 13 rebs, 1 asst, 2 steals, 1 blk, WIN vs Minnesota

18 pts (8-13 FGs in 28 minutes), 11 rebs, 3 assts, 1 steal, WIN vs Denver

24 pts (11-21 FGs), 6 rebs, 3 assists, 1 steal, 2 blks, loss to Toronto
,
25 pts (8-13 FGs), 11 rebs, 2 assts, 2 steals, 2 blks, WIN over Chicago

24 pts (10-19 FGs), 8 rebs, 5 assts, 1 steal, loss to Memphis

26 pts (11-21 FGs), 18 rebs, 6 assts, 1 steal, 3 blks loss to New York

36 pts (17-21 FGs), 15 rebs, 4 assts, 2 steals, 2 blks WIN over New Jersey

If he keeps that up, he's a lock for the All Star game and All-NBA honors next season. Crazy. I wish Aldridge was putting up numbers like that.

I've followed this kid since the Wizards drafted him. A few seasons ago, I wanted the Lakers to make a push for him. He is super talented, he just needs to grow into his potential and get accustomed to the league with consistent play. I hope he can continue to pan out for them, because he is severely talented.

even shitty teams put up 90 points...somebody has to score....but congrats KS for using more than one game

Um.. catch up. They're 4-3 including a win against Denver. Blatche is for real and he's only 23 years old! He has improved every single season and now he's finally being given the chance to shine. Add Arenas, a good draft pick, and a solid free agent signing and they'll be a tough team next season. I'd be excited to be a Wizards fan.

For those without a calculator. he's averaging 27/12/1.5 in those seven games. Can you imagine how people would flip out if Oden did that over 3 games?

Well, I don't know why everything is Oden related to you, but Blatche is definitely a nice prospect. I don't think you should bring Oden into it.

Not "everything", but you shouldn't be confused. Greg Oden is a Trail Blazer. I'm a Trail Blazer fan. And this is a Trail Blazers message board. Still confused?

No offense, but how does 7 games this season equate to all-star consideration next season. Even if he gets all-star consideration next season, that will be based off of NEXT season's performance, not 7 games THIS season. Only consideration he'll be getting this season is "Most Improved Player on a Bad Team Since Major Trade Sending Other More Capable Scorers Away" Award.

If Eric were a GM, his starting lineup would include:

Steve Blake
Travis Outlaw
Yi Jianlian
Andray Blatche

Can anyone think of a shooting guard that Eric has a mancrush on?

Ramon Sessions.

Despite the stupidity of about 1/2 of this, I actually agree that Blatche's improved play lately is pretty damn impressive and he could very well be an all-star in the next few years if the Wiz rebuild in a hurry. I couldn't disagree more about your rebuild plan including Arenas though, they need to go full steam ahead to try and void that contract because if they could they could have more capspace than NYK. A top 3 pick + Blatche's 20/10ish play and more money than anywhere else and they should be able to secure some nice players this offseason, maybe through signings, maybe through lopsided trades. But if they hold onto Arenas' contract they're soon to be in cap hell for a felon who's best basketball is 2-3 knee surgeries ago.

I said he'd make the All Star game IF he kept it up. How do you not agree with that? If he averages 27/12 next season and the Wiz win more than half their games, he'll make it, right? That's what I was saying.

I predict Blatche will play well enough to be declared a retroactive 2010 All-Star.

The fact that KingSpeed doesn't even give Blatche a chance at earning a retroactive 2010 All-Star nod makes me wonder why KingSpeed is such a hater.

Blatche would be a shoo-in, but sadly he'll get beaten out by Yi Jianlian.

The site would crash from the number of guys aged 27-60 who would try and all go crazy at the same time.

why yes... yes I could.

he always has a random stint where he gets minutes every season and blows up, not a real surprise to see it happen again

In the midst of this dreadful season, the one tiny, minuscule speck of hope for the Washington Wizards has been the play of Andray Blatche(notes) over the past month. Following the trade of Antawn Jamison, Blatche hasn't had a game with less than 12 points or 27 minutes. Basically, he's made being a Wizards fan at least OK for the time being.

But Tuesday night, he joined the cavalcade of disasters that has defined this season's Wizards with a childish reason for sitting on the bench. From the Washington Post's Gene Wang:

To make matters worse, Wizards Coach Flip Saunders benched starting forward Andray Blatche after he played just 7 minutes 31 seconds. Saunders said he pulled Blatche initially to discuss the player not getting back on defense but that Blatche refused to listen to the coaching staff.

Saunders said his assistants attempted to talk to Blatche about the situation multiple times but that Blatche's response was he "just didn't want to play."

"I'm disappointed. I'm the most disappointed I've ever been in 15 years with a player," Saunders said. "Most disappointed."

As FanHouse's Tom Ziller mentions, being Flip Saunders' most disappointing player in his coaching career is fairly impressive. Considering he's coached Isaiah Rider, Stephon Marbury(notes), Anthony Peeler, Dennis Scott, Rod Strickland and Latrell Sprewell, that's quite an accomplishment. Not necessarily the thing you want to achieve, but it's good to make an impression, I suppose.

Oh, and Tuesday night was also the beginning of the Wizards' campaign for Blatche as this season's Most Improved Player. So, you know, that's another loss for Washington. Even the Nets are like, "sorry guys."

Soon to be George Hill? The announcers were saying Pop thinks he can be a shooting guard. Hill just scored 20 points in the first half against the Lackers. If Hill scores 20 points each half next season, he is certain to be an all-star. I guarantee it.

All Stars come from winning teams... the Wiz have lost 13 straight. Does anyone think they'll turn things around next year?
