I just got this email:

Basketballforum.com:
2009 NBA Draft

The 2009 NBA draft is only days away and only one thing seems certain this year: that the L.A. Clippers will select Blake Griffin. The 6-10 power forward from Oklahoma has the size and the athleticism and not even the Clippers can screw this one up...can they?

After Number One, things start to get muddled.

The Memphis Grizzlies hold the second overall pick, and will have their choice of anyone not named Griffin. But does anyone want to play in Memphis? Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet cancelled his workout with the Grizzlies with a reported shoulder injury while Spanish guard Ricky Rubio doesn't sound thrilled about potentially playing for Memphis. Could a trade be in the works?

We'll see what transpires at the 2009 NBA Draft on Thursday, June 25 in Madison Square Garden.

Last time I was there the oldest post on the first page was over a week old, and there were five mods and 2 guests.

I bet they are missing our post counts this time of year. We used to almost shut them down on draft day.

nope. the portland section of the forum is basically empty because you all left, but i'd say bbf as a whole doesn't really miss you at all.

And it is roketeer coming to support the BBF again and telling us all that they don't care we left.

I think we got that message the first hundred times you said this. :D

116 listed as "viewing" on all forums right now at BBF, with total being at 294 (74 members and 220 guests).

Right now, S2 has 125 viewing the BLAZER forum alone, with 63 of them being members. To say BBF doesn't miss this community is hilarious.

to be honest, people don't really notice that you're gone. the forum is still just as active as before everywhere but in the blazers section. i guess that's what happens when people only post at one small section of the site.

Posters don't care, but the email ad was hilarious, and any advertisers are surely noticing the loss. I don't really care about being "missed" by anonymous schlubs; I just wanted BBF to realize that we were basically customers. Looks like "mission accomplished" since they are now trying to revive the glory of draft days past.

i doubt vertical scope really gives a shit at all about past or present members.

wow.. I should have an argument like this with someone from Oregonlive who still posts there frequently...

"You suck without us"

"Nuh uh"

"Yuh huh"

:)

Isn't vertical scope the thing they use for a Colonoscopy? This and the mention of shit sure makes a lot of sense. Thanks for putting it all together for us, buddy

What is a vertical scope? If they don't care about losing half of their audience on a site, I'm guessing they don't really care about that site. :devilwink:

Is that the site where most people here came from cause the Mods went crazy there?

Yep! MUCH better here, no doubt about it. I laughed when I got that email from BBF. What a crappy site that is.

I came from O-live so that place is all new to me over there at BBF.. looks thrown together though.

it all started with me bashing Obama. some people couldn't handle it, so they went crying to other mods and a shitstorm ensued. quite fun!

for real? or are you kidding?

He's lying. It had nothing to do with Obama or politics in one direction or the other. One of the moderators there got tired of all the sniping back and forth in political threads in general (not specific ones), decided unilaterally that it wasn't possible to moderate effectively and moved all the political threads out of the Portland Off-Topic forum and to the site's political forum, and banned future political threads in the Off-Topic forum.

That created anger, obviously, and a higher-ranking moderator came in and shut down threads meant to argue the move and forbid futher threads about the topic for the day. Things melted down from there, with both sides getting angrier and angrier.

BTOWN_HUSTLA likes to overstate his own importance and assumes if he repeats his version enough, eventually people will stop bothering to correct it. ;)

Hey, how come we're not deleting any and all references to BBF and banning anyone that even attempts to mention it in code let alone openly? Just curious. ;)

nope. he couldn't handle the heat. he specifically went all apeshit on me for no reason, unprovoked.

oh good lord, no more BBF bullshit please. put your e-peen's away guys :o)
