I basically posted proof that I started like a max of 3 OT topics in a given day, and less than that the days surrounding. It was a total overreaction because some people couldn't handle someone aruging with them laying down.

Exactly. I think it's our different viewpoint that bothers most people.

ABM was originally banned for sending PM's to his friends to go to another site, calling it 'spam', if you can believe that shit. There is a HUGE difference between spam, and writing PM's to those you know.

You dont see the problem with a poster instigating a mass migration if you were a mod of that forum?

No.

edit - I'm not their master. I can't force them to stay. My job (an unpaid and not very serious job) is to moderate, not be a control freak overcome with paranoia. I'd be trying to make my forum more enjoyable and popular, not making it worse. I don't even have a stake in the forum. Why take it so seriously?

Yah, BeerBoy has a point. Hasn't this been rehashed already like 100 times before?

Well I would disagree...posters = traffic= advertising dollars.

If I owned bbf I would be pissed as hell. People have the right to go anywhere they want but I'd be damned if I let them steal away all the traffic of my site without trying to do something

Will you girls please take your soap opera to the OT forum!

Will you PLEASE stop telling people (inconsistent with the way this board operates) to go to the OT forum?

Thanks.

They should have had moderators that were more mature in charge. That would have taken friendly advice from people that had much more experience than they did, or at least not done more damage than existed before they got there.

If someone comes to your site with the intention of luring away your users, I could understand. If a long-time member suggests a new place and many people choose to leave, I think you should question why your site makes them want to leave.

If I owned BBF, I'd have handled the whole situation rather differently, rather than saying "Do things our way or leave. Wait...how dare you suggest leaving?"

To be honest, I never really understood what happened at that other place either, so I decided to take a walk down memory lane.

Looks to me like Community Moderators were largely the problem, popping into threads and insulting people like Xericx. Here's an example of someone named Cinco de Mayo coming out of nowhere and acting like an assclown in post #14. And R-star of course.

Below is another long-ass thread. At one point Cindo de Mayo compares himself to a bouncer at a club. It's clear to see that those moderators were too full of themselves. Basel, another mod, said that ABM was originally banned for sending PM's to his friends to go to another site, calling it 'spam', if you can believe that shit. There is a HUGE difference between spam, and writing PM's to those you know.

I glanced over the last few pages of maxiep posts and while he was clearly opinionated I saw nothing wrong in the least. Right up until his last post in fact. Whatever. In the last election everyone had strong opinions, nothing wrong with that.

Bottom line, the mods seemed to just come to the board to argue, usually in a passive-aggressive manner, humorously attempting to act objective and fair, and then continually insulting members, making a mountain out of a molehill, and locking and banning everything they sought fit. It's liked being moderated by the trolls themselves, it's not going to end peacefully.

As for the 'other' topic - I don't think Kobe raped that girl, but none of us can call it fact that he did or did not. :stirthepot:
not all the threads are still around where they can be seen by normal members. they've been deleted from the regular forums but still can be seen in the mod forums(or something like that).

All I know is that I haven't been here for a while, and I've been laughing out loud for the last fifteen minutes reading this thread.

God, I wish I had time to hang out in here more often...

Interesting. And do you think that hurts or helps your defense of the moderators not acting like facists? ;)

I'm enjoying too . . . takes my mind off the trade deadline . . . well no it doesn't, but it does make for light entertaining reading.

i just thought i should put that out there if someone was actually going back through to look at threads and try to see what happened.

Doesn't it though? I'm serious; I'm having a blast in this thread. It's all in good fun, IMO. Like most people who fanatically follow the Blazers, I have a bit of OCD. Changing the subject helps me from running ESPN's Trade Machine a few thousand times.

As a fairly high ranking staff member, I would just like to let it be known that not only are Kobe the rapist threads allowed here, they are also encouraged.
Yet me telling people Rudy didn't deserve to be in the Dunk Contest finals is trolling and is discouraged.

i wont lie. its entertaining
IIRC, your ban was pretty hilarious. KEAFy no likey Kanye hate. ;)

And Cinco De Mayo was an assclown looooooong before the BBF fiasco with you guys. I had multiple issues with him.

Rudy's slam dunk over Dwight Howard in the Olympic Gold Medal game was all the only credential required. Probably close to a billion people have seen that dunk.

The only dunk probably seen by more people than Rudy's dunk's was THE Vince Carter 2000 Olympics dunk. That's only because these been more time for people to see the clip.

very similar to what happened to me

Back to the here and now....

BBF > S2 for NBA forums outside of the blazers.

I surfed the bobcats s2 forums two days before the deadline - ZERO posters. I tried other teams too, no posters. If you're not going to get excited (or at least curious) right before the trade deadline, you're not a part of S2 forums. The threads weren't even current.

I really wanted to know what other teams think... So, I went to BBF. There weren't very many posters, but there were SOME.
They even had some current threads. It's dumb to go to forums and not even find current threads - that's why I think BBF, while terrible, is better than S2 (Outside of the blazers).

BTW, passing NJ wasn't much of an accomplishment since they have very few posters.

Right now, the blazers forum has 64 visiting, the lakers has 4 (no wonder DaRizzle hangs out here). All of the other S2 NBA forums have 2 or less (most have zero watching right now).

I wonder if there is there anything Blazer posters could do to attract more NBA fans to this site?

Start posting in the general forum? :dunno:
