Is there a reason he would not get surgery on a torn miniscus. but Brandon did. I know each case is different, just thought the term "torn" made it pretty severe.

I think all muscle injuries, even sprains, are technically tears. So it just being "torn" doesn't give a lot of information, I don't think. But that's just based on whatever I've read, no actual expertise.

From what I've heard and read on Lakers' radio and websites, it is a very minor tear that the team wasn't concerned about at the end of last year. Bynum notified them in the exit interviews and management deemed it not serious enough for surgery. All his tear really does is cause some pain and discomfort, but he can play through it. I suspect it will cause some swelling for a week or so, but it should naturally heal to the point where he has played on it all year long without any issues. There has been no news of the tear being increased...just aggravated.

Bynum is just another example demonstrating that bigs sustain more injuries and miss more PT than other players due to those injuries.

I do think Greg is going to recover and play for the Blazers. And I think he'll play very well. I also expect him to suffer more injuries. The team and its fans should expect that.
