I might have a bit of sympathy for the guy if he wasn't 99% responsible for the sideshow surrounding him. I also wonder how he's managed to not be fined by the NBA during this entire ordeal.

The Denver Nuggets have managed to remain competitive, with Anthony continuing to thrive despite the incessant trade rumors about him.

Anthony had scored 30 point or more in seven of his last 14 games, including 50 against Houston and 42 against Dallas in the last week, before scoring 28 in a loss at Memphis on Sunday.

Anthony has moved up to seventh in the NBA in scoring average at 25.0 points going into Denver's game Sunday at Memphis.

"It takes a strong-willed person, a strong-minded person to go out there and deal with the stuff I deal with and still go out and work every day and perform on a nightly basis," Anthony told reporters.

Or, you're hogging the ball more than ever to try and showcase yourself, and your team has gone 11-11 over their last 22 games (3-6 over the last 9 as well) because of this ballhogging.

I have the misfortune of spending much of the year in the Mile High, and--quoting George W. Bush--that guy is a major league asshole. He doesn't give a shit about his team. If he doesn't get traded by the deadline, he'll sign the extension and then push Denver to trade him at the soonest opportunity before the ink is dry.

Carmelo Anthony is everything that's wrong with the NBA.

That is why I call him the Rich Man's Zbo.

Any chance the Nuggets just decide not to sign him to an extension if they can't trade him by the deadline? As you say, they know he is going to start pushing for a trade after he signs the extension. Who knows what the new CBA looks like and it might be harder to trade him after the CBA. It would be kind of funny to me to see Carmelo get played and end up losing tons of money.

None. It's a player option, so the ball is completely in his court.

iirc, next year is a player option, but the 3/65M extension is on top of that option, and what he would be giving up if DEN decided to say "forget it." and pull back the offer.

3-7 over the last 10 games ... how does Carmelo Anthony fight throught this mess?

I don't see how you can put the blame solely on one player.

I'm not blaming him. He's a pillar of integrity, fighting hard to stay afloat in a turbulent sea of uncertainty. Just ask him! If only his teammates would help him out more ... if only the media would leave him alone...

Easy. When you're the undisputed leader of the team (Chauncey may run the lockerroom, but he only leads with Melo's consent) and you've let it known to everyone you're on your way out the door, you've created a situation where it's every man for himself. They're not winning anything and the Thuggets will be rebuilding. At that point, you stop playing like a team and start looking out for #1. It's like the D-League; sure there's a team, but everyone has their eye on the next step.

Anybody else just catch Anthony's comments on SportsCenter?

Future's so bright, he had to wear shades? What a douchebag.

Broussard reporting that the Nets are back in the mix, but at a much lower cost to them with Favors being the key to the deal along with Troy Murphy's EC.

I have to give some respect to Anthony for completely disregarding his coach, teammates, and fans of the team. He's going off tonight, his team is in a close game that they should win easily, and he's smiling most of the game.

If you're going to go asshole, go 100% asshole, and that's what he's doing. Own it, and embrace it.
