OT: Cavs/Celtics vying for Jamiston..Cavs trying to get Amare!

This is just getting silly.

Here I thought Portland was willing to make big moves to create a winner but all of the available good players are going to teams that are actually contenders.

All this while Portland holds to the hopes that at least one of our two injured centers can come back next year and be productive.

I hope to fuck OKC doesn't make a deal to get a center. Then Portland would be the 4th best team in the Northwest division.

This does sound a bit Mixum-esque but quite frankly standing still is falling behind in the NBA.

Yeah, OKC does have a great future. Get a legit big guy or a guy like a Bosh (probably won't happen), but an impact player like that with Durant I'll take their future over ours.

I was just thinking about that earlier today. If they were to end up with Biedrins (since he's apparently being shopped), they would have an outstanding future ahead of them.

I very much agree. Hopefully The Thunder's GM is like ours and just sits.

Trade for Garnett = Ring
Trade for Gasol = Ring

that's how you get it done now.

So Portland should trade for a franchise-caliber star, without giving up their own franchise star? That's very insightful. I really wish Pritchard had acquired Jefferson or Carter last season, when he had the chance. Those are the guys, right? The Garnett/Gasol types who get you rings?

Celtics are old, yes. Mavericks are kind of, yes. Lakers will get about 5 years maybe even more from Kobe, I think. The Cavs aren't all that old and any team with LeBron and Amare, I don't think I would bet against. Then you have up and coming teams such as the Thunder who look good and have cap space for next year and could make a trade if they wanted/needed or sign a very nice player. Just because some teams are old and will be gone by our time, doesn't mean every team will be done.

My question is, if we are ever in win now mode, will we ever make that type of trade to put us over the type if needed? Will KP go against his thing of doing mid-season traded? Right now, he has not shown to be that type of person, can he be, I guess we will see.

We'll never know until that opportunity presents itself.

Shame we haven't been offered a younger player who is still up and coming and not well past his prime (unlike Carter, Jefferson or Marion).

KG was supposedly offered for the Oden pick prior to the draft...

How Cleveland has a chance is beyond me.

Their roster is complete and utter CRAP outside of LBJ.

and, iirc, it would've taken more than just Oden to make the trade.

We weren't, I believe, 20 something million under the cap.

I don't recall specifics of the required package being discussed, just that KG was offered for Oden. (Presumably, such an offer would not have been made without a feasible return package suggested.) Point being, those deals have apparently been out there, and not just for giving up our established talent. We just aren't willing to part with the ever elusive potential to get in on the established action.

if cleveland trades mo williams, then we need to trade blake to cleveland lol

I'm not a big fan of Mo Williams and find him pretty overrated but...

Blake/Amare to Cleveland
Ilgauskus/Rudy/Bayless/Outlaw to Phoenix
Williams/Hill to Portland

would be interesting (not even sure that I'd do it, or if the salaries would work).

Williams/Miller
Roy/Batum
Webster/Hill
Aldridge/Cunningham
Howard/Pendergraph

/\ title contendor? I personally think Mo Williams looks much better than he is playing next to Lebron.
