I doubt that's true. They don't even want him on the Serbian national team. At this point he's only getting contracts in the NBA because he's previously gotten contracts in the NBA.

If he's good enough for the NBA, his famous attitude problem must be pretty bad for his national team to reject him. Despite that, there must be some major team in Europe who would put up with him and pay him well.
