OT: Chris Paul requesting the Clippers hire a black coach?

Chris Paul’s preference is to stay with the Clippers but he wants them to hire an African-American coach, according to multiple league sources.

Heard this mentioned during an update on NBCSportsRadio, but I can't really find any credible reports of this. If this is true, it will cause me to lose a little respect for him. Perhaps I shouldn't, but I expect better.

Can you imagine the shit storm if someone like Dirk, Love or Nash said they wanted a white coach? Even if it was just a rumor. This would be all over ESPN, FOX, etc. Reverends Al and Jesse would be on top of the NBA office steps demanding answers.

So be it then but I would like to know Paul's motive behind wanting a black coach just out of curiosity.

It would set a good example for the citizens of Los Angeles if the coach were black and lasted for years. Except for Tom Bradley, their black leaders (Police Chief, Lakers coach, USC coach) have been short-timers.

Although I dislike the Clippers (probably empathy due to decades of suckage) less than the Lakers, Thunders, etc., I'd love to see them hire Nate to destroy their offense. He may be black, but I bet CP3 would loathe playing for him before the all star break. Anything to weaken a conference rival...
