I can't believe what I just saw. The Hornets were up 3 and Paul stole the ball with less than 24 seconds left in the game. All he had to do was hold the ball, get fouled, and put it away with FTs. Instead, he pushes it and runs into Fisher. Fisher draws the charge and then hits a three on the other end. What a fuck up. Go Lakers. I want distance between us and the Hornets.

Yea that sucks for him. But damn the Staples Center Blows! By far the hardest ref's to play against anywhere in the NBA.

AyyyO - Gaay O

 Yea its tough. The Hate for LA is sooo strong.

Damn. You're actually rooting for the Lakers? You're a better Blazers fan than I. I just cannot root for the Lakers, even though I know a Hornets' lost would be better for us.

It's really hard. I'm so used to rooting against the Lakers.

I got no problems rooting for the Lakers if it means putting more space between us and any of the teams chasing us. It's not like we're going to catch them in the standings anyways so why not have them beat our competition in the process???

A Lakers loss doesn't hurt them at all, so it's pretty easy to root for them in this game. ;) All to the greater glory of the Blazers!

IMO a Blazers fan should root for anyone that benefits our team, if it be the lakers, then so be it. There is always the playoffs to root against la.

Indeed. Laker hate is second only to Blazer needs.

Man once I saw that highlight, I had visions of Game WCF in 91..Uncle Cliffy..3 on 1....nuff said :(

I view rooting for the Lakers to beat one of the teams we are fighting with for a playoff spot to be like rooting for us to tank the past few years to get a good draft pick. My head says it is a good idea, but my heart won't quite let me do it.

Yeah, that '91 team may have been the best team in that three-year run. Poor Uncle Cliffy... never was the same after that in playoff situations.
Oh well, CP3 had a brain fart for the last 20 seconds. And Derek Fisher is just uncanny making clutch 3s, so annoying.

Sorry guys, but I was a Laker fan tonight!

And flops too, don't forget about those!

Thanks, Rizzle - we owe your boys one for tonight.

This is why I was dead-set against trading for CP3.

Must be nice to be a moderator and have the ability to go back and edit all the posts from the last couple of weeks, eh, barfo??? Your hatred of CP3 was pretty evident ;)

...I was more amazed that he did not PASS the ball off on the break!!! THE BEST PG in the entire league right now did not PASS the ball when he had a virtual 3 on 1 break going the other way after his magnificent steal!!! After that monumental error, he and the rest of his team deserved to lose...even with the refs fucking him by fouling him out of the game after Kobe clearly pushed his ass into the hardwood!!! :dunno:

Yea, it was unbelievable. It was stupid of him to even run the break at all, but then to not pass it for an easy score? Amazing. Total meltdown. Can you imagine if that was a playoff game? He would never live it down.

I just watched it again. It was a FOUR on one break! Amazing.

Its tough to watch Laker games because the opposing team always plays 5 on 8. The only reason I like BOston/LA games is because one of them (or both, lmao) are going to complian about the refs, and its simply unbelievable because the other 80 games a year they get all the calls.

But I guess the NBA has to make LA and Boston good. So while Staples is no where near to the best home court advantage from a stadium/fan standpoint (The Rose Garden shits on it, imo) it is probably the hardest place to win, which is sad.

Yup...he REALLY blew it

BTW Eric....I watched the game on tivo. I came to the POR board during the Laker game to see how I did in the predictions thread...this thread made me know the result before I was even done with the 3rd quater...u suck! :devilwink:

I was following the game online in real time and was pulling for the Lakers to win because I knew a Hornets loss would help the Blazers in the play-off race.

I then watched the replay of the game on ESPN, and found myself pulling for the Hornets even though I knew they had already lost and are fighting the Blazers for play-off seeding. Seeing the game, those piss and purple uniforms, Kobe's whining, Odom's jawing, Pau's flopping, the preferential calls and sense of entitlement all reminded me why I hate the Lakers and could never actually cheer for them regardless of the situation.

So, as a conflicted Blazers fan, I'm glad the Hornets lost, but I'm not glad the Lakers won.

Well, Paul was jobbed on his last foul. Kobe pushed him.

^I think that perfectly sums up what your guys attitude should be.

You didnt have to root, but you should prefer the Lakers won last night

yeah I didn't outright root for the L*kers last night, but I fully rooted for the Hornets to lose; The purple and piss are a lock for the number one seed so they can win as much as they like at this point, it means nothing to me, the Hornets losing as many as possible just makes it that much more likely the Blazers get in.

^love the Evil Dead avatars btw

Here is one I made a while back (use it if you like)

Yes, Paul made a stupid blunder, and he knew it.

However, one thing you forgot to mention:

That wasn't a charge. Not. Even. Close.

I didn't think so in real time, or after any of the replays.

Fisher was still sliding, and sliding into Paul's landing zone. It was a block.

Screw the Lakers and their bullpucky 8 on 5 basketball.

Fisher was still sliding

You dont have to be set for it to be a charge. The offensive player just has to hit the defensive player squarely in the chest

You dont have to be set for it to be a charge. The offensive player just has to hit the defensive player squarely in the chest

You have to beat the offensive player to the "spot". Fisher did not do that. His angle was sharp, which indicates a block unless you are set. And, Paul was in the air, and Fisher did not allow him to land.

But, whatever, keep thinking the Lakers don't get more than their fair share of the call, even and especially when a Future Hall of Famer is being fouled by, well.... Derek Fucking Fisher.

Good win. Flopper paul got what he deserved when kobe pushed his ass down to the floor.
