OT: CP3 requests trade to NYK

No one was bitching when we were gonna have a healthy super team of Roy, Aldridge, and Oden. And players have demanded trades since the beginning of time. This is no big deal. Just cuz he asks to be traded to NY, it doesn't mean they have to do it. Furthermore, who says a Paul/Melo/Amare team is any good? Without Paulhey got swept last year in the first round cuz they can't rebound or defend. I don't think Paul solves all their problems. I would take a healthy roster of our players over the Paul/Melo/Amare Knicks every day of the week.
 
Oh and the Heat didn't win the championship last year so who cares?
 
i dont care about super teams, but if players want to be on a certain team, they should just sign there
 
Good for him. But the only way he's gonna get there is with a S&T, and NOH won't like what NYK offers. NO can just look for other trades.

And they already have -- (Per Twitter) They (N.O.) let GSW know that if they trade CP3 they like Steph Curry.

First of all, the inmate comparison is racist but besides that, NO can trade Paul to whichever team they want. Paul has no control over that.

Pretty sure we drafted those guys and pretty sure they didn't whine and demand to be sent to the Blazers.
 
Agree that NY already has enough trouble trying to defend. Dedicating more money to scoring is going to get them swept from the first round again as well as have a huge financial penalty when they try to add players. The only way NO should accept any deal is if it includes unprotected draft picks that will blow up in the Knicks face once again along with the sparce talent that surrounds their supposed two stars.

Since the lock-out is over, and the CBA is pending, I hope the NBA fines his ass, at the very least, if it is at all in their power. Of course, Carmelo Anthony never got fined for his agent talking about going to NY, while Rudy got fined $50k for his agent saying Rudy wanted to go back to Spain.
 
Make this fucker rot in NO. Let him have to sign as a FA and cost himself tens of millions of dollars. Remind him and his agent that history has shown teams that trade away superstars are never better off for it. So suck it

I don't think Paul will go to NY. NO can get better offers from pretty much any other team. Or they can just let him walk for nothing because that's pretty much on the same level as the garbage the Knicks will be able to offer. He can sign wherever he wants in the off season, leaving about 25 mil on the table. Go to NY now bitch

Ahh yes I recall when these players collaborated and forced other teams hands so they could play together. That was pretty sweet when it worked in our favor :devilwink:

Are you kidding? Portland DRAFTED all of those players. There was no collusion on the part of the players to get to Portland, and the Blazers earned the right to draft them only after suffering through some pretty bad seasons. Portland assembled their collection of players the right way, through the draft.

And players have demanded trades since the beginning of time. This is no big deal.

It IS a big deal, because these days players are demanding trades to specific teams--and those teams are almost always in big markets, like NY, Miami, and L.A. It's going to hurt competition and reduce parity.

4 free agents, and not a single one went to Sacramento, Minnesota, Memphis, Oklahoma City, Cleveland, Portland, or any other small to medium-sized market. This is a very bad trend for the average NBA fan.
 
CP3 apparently admits he knows the Knicks have nothing on their roster worth a damn and wont force his way there.

I can't wait for Tommy Dee or Alan Hahn to spin this into "posturing".

Miami is a medium sized market. Minnesota is actually a bigger market than Miami. So is Atlanta, DC, PHX, Detroit, GS, Philadelphia.
So it clearly isn't just a big market issue. Otherwise, Lebron would have went to NY, or the Clippers, or the Bulls. Or the Nets. You know, one of the top 3 big markets. He didn't, he went to one in the middle of the pack. As a free agent. Also, Bosh left Toronto, a much bigger market, to go to Miami.

Still, your point stands--Miami is not New York or Chicago. But it's also sunny, warm, coastal, and has no state income tax, so it's a different animal.
 
I grabbed something that was showing television market, but yeah, close enough.
I agree, it's likely a nice city, being a nice climate. But not a major market. Philly doesn't attract big free agents. It has its draws, but, shit, someone as a free agent decided they wanted less money to like where they live. I just don't know what people want. Guys to go strictly for most money?

I'm sure nobody (here) would be complaining if NBA stars wanted to conspire to play in cities where people are unusually pleasant, the weather rarely gets too hot or too cold, and was 90 minutes from both the ocean and mountains. It's only bad because players want to go to other cities, not ours.

No we didn't draft all of those players. And we didn't deserve the #1 pick. We only had an 8% chance. We got lucky.
