Danny Granger was "pissed" when he learned that he had been traded by the Indiana Pacers to the Philadelphia 76ers, according to a league source.

Granger had spent his entire career with the Pacers' organization.

Many around the NBA expect Granger to sign with either the Miami Heat or San Antonio Spurs assuming he is waived.

"We'll meet with (Danny Granger). ... It's going to be interesting," said Sim Hinkie. "We're going to sit and talk."

Hinkie said that there is a chance that the 76ers will discuss a buyout with Granger.

So, the rich will get richer. Great.

I think these kinds of buyouts where the players go on strike are bullshit. I'd like to see the league owners get together and freeze these players out, Marcus Allen-style.

I don't blame him, but he needs to remember it's a business.

Philly would be smart to buy him out anyway

Agreed. Of course, I also hope that they do buy him out and Olshey figures out a way to pick up Granger for the Blazers. ;)

He's washed up man. I've seen him live a few times this year, and he's absolutely done. Wilson Chandler and Wessy both ran circles around him

He'll fit with the Brittle heat... Oden needs a fellow injury-prone buddy on the bench with him not named Wade.

Seems like the type of guy Pop likes to pick up late in the season.

Wait, if he is bought out he goes on waivers right? Teams under the cap have a chance to bid on him before he can go to the Heat. Or is that just for Amensty people?

Just for amnesty. He has to clear waivers, but that's a team picking up his whole deal

Funny thing.... one of these is Danny Granger, one of these is Dorell Wright. (I'm using Per 36 to even up the minutes)

12.4 ppg, 35.9% FG, 34.7% from three, 5.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 10.9 PER
13.3 ppg, 35.9% FG, 33% from three, 5.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 10.4 PER

Granger has been hurt the last two years. He might never be the same player again but I cut him slack on his numbers this year (for now) because he hasn't been healthy.

The GM's need a backbone. They need to tell the players they need to show up or they will get fined. There is no way I would buy out a player just because he wants out.

I'd probably be pissed at first too. He carried that team out of the depths basically single handedly for a few years, and not that they have a great chance at an NBA championship, he gets traded. Obviously it makes business sense, since he hasn't been good for a while now, but if he doesn't get waived by Philly for some reason.. That would be awful for him.

I think Granger is doing what he has to do to get waived so he can sign with a contender. My guess would be Miami.

My question is could the Blazers sign him?

Sure they could, but the most they could offer him is the veteran's minimum. Money being equal, he would likely choose another destination over Portland.

That sort of good will would ensure that you would have to well overpay to ever get someone to play for you, however.

Well, I think we can offer him a bigger role than San Antonio or Miami could.

 About halfway through the stat line I thought, "man, Dorell's as good as Granger!" And then slapped myself hard on the face.

If anything, it just shows how low Granger has slipped.

He's averaging around 20 mpg and Dorell is only averaging around 13. Their shooting percentages are nearly identical, and so is their PER. I just thought it was pretty funny.

I thought of wright too when people starting talking about how pissed they were that grangers being bought out. He sucks now. Everyone would jerk off for a week if we got him and curse him after that week for playing like Shit.

Sounds like Charlie Villanueva also might get a buyout. Any interest there?

If Roy and Oden had been healthy, KP would be 2 for 2 in helping to build championship contenders.

He'd be 1 for 1. Had Roy and GO stayed healthy, we'd still be chasing titles and KP would still be here. Nothing for him and PA to be so bitter about if we're collecting trophies at One Center Court. Oden told ESPN the mag he wanted "about 7, 8, or 9 rings" . . . before his first micro surgery.
