I dont even know what to say to this:

Former Sun Richard Dumas: Nancy Reagan’s ‘Just Say No’ campaign ‘got me interested’ in cocaine http://yhoo.it/16Q17YS via @YahooBDL

His grades were fine. He never got in a fight. Dumas’ energy outlet was petty crime, busting windows and stealing candy from stores. His idle time turned him to drugs and alcohol. He said he tried alcohol at age 5 and marijuana at age 9.
He blames his increased drug use, including cocaine, on former first lady Nancy Reagan.
“She said ‘Just say no,’ so it got me interested,” Dumas said of the slogan that came out when he was 17. “It brought it to the forefront. We didn’t have any big drug problem until Nancy said to say no to drugs. Nobody knew about half of it. Now they’re showing it on TV about what it does.”
Dumas is fidgety and scattered at times in conversation but exudes an overall calm. He said he has been clean for so many years that he does not recall when he took his last drug hit.
“He turned out to be a good kid until he got in trouble,” said Ted Hooks, 59, a Tulsa neighbor and friend of Dumas’ grandfather.

So between Nancy and Ronnie, the drug and AIDs epidemic of the 80's is pretty much their fault. Too funny.

It's cause of George Washington that I got addicted to tea and crumpets.

I would not put the entire blame on Nancy, but sometimes advertisement whether positive or negative is effective.

It's because of Star Wars that Blazer Wookiee got addicted to celibacy.

When I was a kid in school there was a lot of 'drug education' in health class. The teachers spent weeks teaching us about and testing us on all the different pharmacuetical and street drugs, all the slang terms for them, how to identify them, how to take them, dosages, how each drug would make us feel, etc. I'm pretty sure the intent was so we wouldn't use drugs. Once we all became little experts however, everyone pretty much rushed right out and tried everything they could get their hands on -- which was everything. A number of my friends are no longer with us, for one drug related reason or another. I certainly hope they've changed their approach now that my daughters are reaching that age.

I blame Greg Oden for me taking selfies in the bathroom.

Funny. I've always said the Just Say No campaign has kept me away from drugs. I've always been grateful that I was educated at the right age. I also feel blessed that I discovered my sexuality when the AiDS crisis was well underway and safe sex education was everywhere. Unfortunately, it pretty much made me scared of sex to the point that I really don't have sex at all in my life. I don't give blowjobs or have anal sex which pretty much limits me to getting blown occasionally (not a horrible thing), masturbation, and kissing. My husband and I hardly do anything- just holding each other- which is nice). It's sad but it's better than being dead. How's that for too much information?

Sounds like poor parenting to me.

I blame racism today on history teachers teaching about slavery.

I blame the MADD ads that showed mutilated cars on drunk driving deaths because going that fast while drunk must be fun.

Sounds like poor parenting to me.

Sometimes, parents do the best job of parenting that they are aware/capable of doing. Unfortunately, sometimes, that's not enough.

"I learned it from watching you, Dad!"

A guy drinking at age 5 and smoking weed at age 9 is not at-risk at all for future drug issues.

I blame Nancy Ray-gun 100%. He should sue her.

Probably. But does giving more information about drugs help or hurt the chances of an at risk kid to experiment more?

Also, lumping drinking and pot in with other drugs in the Just Say No campaign also has a negative effect. Kids realize it is not that bad and do not give any credibility for the other things the program tries to teach.

You can revive the billions of dollars in funding this received if you would like though. I would rather put it towards something like early childhood education or something more productive.

This.

(I'm telling you, the class was like a tutorial. Any message about why NOT to use them was completely lost.)

Yeah, right. All gays are slutty.

Ok, after learning more about Erics sex life than I ever wanted to, needed to or should know, I think I can safely contribute to this thread by saying Dumas was, is, and will always be a dumbass as long as he blames someone other than himself here.

Now if you don't mind me, I'm going to drink some bleach to get Eric's post out of my mind.
