James was scheduled to have a party at The Midland, a theater in downtown Kansas City, on Thursday night.

Durant was invited but politely declined.

"I don't go out to parties the day before a game," Durant said. "I really don't go out too much during the season."

And this is for a pre-season game. His work ethic and focus is scary.

I love that. I mean, I hate that we didn't draft that guy . . . but I love his desire. You just don't see that very often.

LOL, why is this newsworthy?

Why wouldn't it be? 2 of the 3 best players in the game . . . one guy snubs another in the name of work ethic (pretty much). Makes KD look like a focussed professional and Lebron look like he's more about the glitz than the game (in the eyes of some anyways). I like tidbits like this - they sort of set up the Rivalry.
We could be looking at the Showman Lebron vs. the more Business-Like KD in the Finals for years to come.

I'm sure a ton of players don't party before games. (And it's not like Lebron became the best player in the league by losing focus and partying every night). It was sort of a snide comment by KD, I thought, as he just threw James under the bus.

Huh? How is Durant saying the above at all related to James?

Why would you expect OKC to be in the finals anytime soon?

KD isn't "focussed", he's just a basketball nerd. He really doesn't know how to do anything else and doesn't want to. He's a good kid, but "focussed" implies that he's paying particular attention to basketball - he isn't.

You know this ... how? He's a basketball nerd, but he isn't "focussed (sic)"? That makes no sense.

People knocking Durant for self-discipline. Interesting.

I'd trade one Oden and one Roy for Durant any day.

So he doesn't get any credit because basketball is just part of his nature, then?

Apparently, only guys who don't give a shit like Darius Miles can be "focused". Durant has some sort of basketball gene that makes focus impossible for him. Or something like that...

$20 says this wouldnt be "Newsworthy" if we were picking #6 that draft. Seriously, good for KD, I wish him all the best (except against us) He truly is a basketball junkie, and loves the game. Kinda like a mega fan of the game like us, but with the talent, and skill that we could only dream of. Good for him, but this isnt any more newsworthy than Blake not going out to party cause he loves the game.

I think it is newsworthy in the sense that Captain Dickhead in Miami went out of his way to call the media out for a racist portrayal, meanwhile golden boy Durant can do no wrong. Durant snubbing James just folds the two stories together neatly.

Wouldn't it have been the best day ever for a Blazer fan if we had won the lottery the year this super-focused uber-talent had been in the draft?

Oldest trick in the book is to try and befriend an adversary so when you play them they will let their guard down. Good try Lebron!

Good for Durant. Good kid, great player, not a douche. Check, check, check.

lol while I do like Durant a billion trillion times more than Lebron.. if there is anything I learned from this place, is we are a butthurt fanbase about stuff... for a loooooooooong time.

Maybe I misunderstood what was news and then what was news to you guys.

yeah what I was saying is this wouldnt be news here to this fanbase if we didnt have a shot at Durant wearing a Blazer jersey.

Agree on all three counts. Except that for "can do" no wrong, I'd substitute "hasn't stepped on his crank publicly multiple times in the last 2 years like Captain Dickhead in Miami has"

I like Durant's focus, but he needs to find the fine line of not putting too much pressure on himself if he wants to step up his big game performances.

Maybe Durant just thinks LeBron's a dick?

Oh, and I still pick GO.

LeBron's the best player on the planet. Durant is very very good.

And I still think Oden was the right pick.

Wanna fight about it?

Ed O.

Would you be saying that if Portland had picked Durant, and both teams and both players had the exact same results to this point? What I am getting at, would you be posting about Oden being the right pick if Durant was a Blazer?

OKC/MIA game just started.

The Thunder offense has a ton of motion.

Btw, Durant is scoring on LeBron at will.
