9-12 shooting and 4-5 from three. 7-7 from the line. 35 minutes. Yes, it was against the Kings, but still. Not a bad game.

Why couldn't he do that here?
 
Well, and look at the other box scores. He's had plenty of 1-9 shooting nights.
 
He got no run here. I think he is going to have a career year this season.
 
Ever since college, Frye has struggled with focus, intensity, and consistency. Dude needs Ritalin or something. He had a run of 40-50 good games as a rookie - but that is as close as he has ever come to a sustained effort.
 
Guys will produce when given minutes. Specially players like Frye. But getting the Yo-Yo treatment that Nate loves to do, just kills players. You saw it happen quite a lot last season with a few players.
 
Frye has been a pretty good player, when he played over 20 minutes a night. Some guys are energy and hustle guys in the league, who ar eable to come in, and give you solid production for 5 or 10 minutes a night. Other guys need a flow and rhythm to get going, adn Frye was one of those guys. I wanted him on our team as insurance, as I thought he would make a great replacement if Aldridge went down, but wanted an actual backup for when Aldridge was healthy, as Channing just isn't a good backup in the league. Good for him. I hope he does well in Phoenix. I really like him.

Let's not forget in his first year here, when LMA sat out the rest of the year, he averaged 16/10 for us. Channing can play. I wish him nothing but the best in Phoenix.

I thought he was a better backup PF than Travis, but I don't know nearly as much about basketball as our coaching staff.

I think if he would have had a consistent role here, he would have produced for us. I was sorry to see him go. I think he would have been a terrific backup for LMA with the ability to start if Aldridge went down.

I like Channing too.. but he did too much of What LMA does.. but at a much less efficient clip. I like his ability to start as a PF more than Outlaw. But Channing only gave us what we already had. I too wish him nothing but the best though.

No, clearly not. Anyone who actually watched him play last season was more than willing to get rid of him this summer. Even at Arizona he'd have a big game once a month, then disappear - and that was while starting for the Wildcats. Did anyone see him play at the Coliseum last week? Dude was terrible.
 
Man, I just saw that the Suns made 51 free throws! That is crazy!

I have to agree. Nate drives me nuts with that. Still waiting to see who he starts through the first ten games and how our substitution patterns work, but I'm not in a pro-Nate camp at the moment.

What's even crazier is how much I now respect and miss the regular refs. Even if it's rigged at least 90% of the game was called right with the gambino family refs.
 
Channing is a good fit on the Suns. After the way he finished the 2007-08 season, I had high hopes for him as Aldridge's back-up last year. Whether it was his injury, his lack of focus, lack of a clearly defined role, poor fit, whatever, he just flat out didn't get it done last year. And, the Blazers rightly declined to resign him.

He's not a great player, but in the right system, with a well defined role and consistent minutes, he can be an above average NBA player. The Suns got him at a bargain basement price, and it's probably the best fit for him in the entire NBA. With the trade of Shaq to Cleveland and Robin Lopez injured, he'll get plenty of minutes. If he doesn't do well now, he never will. This is the ideal situation for him. I hope he takes advantage of it.

Frye reminds me of Tim Thomas. He's not a bad player at all. The thing is, he's too soft to play PF and too big and slow to play SF and teams figure that out after playing him for only a little while.

He can be part of a winning team, but he's got to outscore the opposing PF by 10 points or more to basically have played him even, due to the rebounding and defensive differences.

It's like the replacement refs are in collusion with the Gambino refs to force the league to bring the Gambinos back before the season starts. :dunno:
