Very cool.

As a Packers fan I remember what it was like to watch a moribund team in the pre-Favre years, and then have them finally break through. Congrats Nate, you must be jumping up and down.

WTF? That's like the Clippers getting into the Finals.

OR the Blazers, cause you know, they haven't been in the playoffs in six years and haven't won a championship in my lifetime.

Hey, I'd love to see the Clippers get into the Finals, unless they'd have to go through us.

Yeah man congrats! You are the only Cardinals fan I know so Im sure you are very very stoked!

Amazing game
He is not the only one, I live in AZ so it is pretty cool for this to be happening.

Agreed, if Z-bo wasnt on there roster right now.
i know, its not like he played his hardest here or anything, he always had a great supporting cast but we could never win. and he talked so bad about us when we traded him

:dunno:

i think it's pretty easy to claim the clips and cards as the two most inept teams in professional sports. until this season the cards had won one playoff game in like 50 years?

congrats to you and i hope for your sake they beat the steelers...as for most of us, another SB where i could care less who wins.

I was at the game and still trying to recover. My body just aches from all of the tail gating and playing we did. We were in the lot at 0900 when they opened and left when they shut it down at 2000. It was by far the most fun I have had at a sporting event ever. Our team has been so bad for so long that our fans did not really know what to do. We just looked at each other with the "what the fuck did they just do look on our faces for several seconds."

The games and tail gating really have a collegial feel. The majority of the fan base is blue collar. The first four seasons I had season tickets they were 20 rows up on the 25 yard line, but the people around me did not get into the game. I had my seats moved to second row end zone and those are the best fans ever. Every bit as intense as I am.

I only have two season tickets but was lucky enough to come up with 8 extra tickets at face value for the game for friends and family. It was just incredible. Hopefully we will be able to do this in Portland soon.

No he has the right thread.

You said you could care less ... think about it.

wow nik i think that one went WHOOSH right over your head. let me spell it out for you, there is a lengthy PET PEEVE thread in the OT forum.

heres my question for cardinal fans, how many of those fans in the stands yesterday were really cowboy fans posing as cardinal fans cause their team can't win a playoff game? i know there are quite a few cowboy fans in the area, just wondering if they are a bunch of posers or if this team really has that many devoted fans?

The PHX area is full of people from anywhere but PHX. Every winter we get over 1 million snow birds down here from Oh, Mi, Minny and other cold weather states. They bring their allegences to their home teams with them. When the Cards played at ASU they did not draw well because of many reasons, with the main ones being;

1. Crappy stadium
2. Extremely hot weather in an outdoor stadium.
3. Cheap ownership

Now they are in a new state of the art indoor stadium and the fans came out of the wood work to fill it. Fans of other teams still buy tons of tickets from brokers and online, but that was mainly due to the team not being good so you might as well scalp your big game tickets to pay for your other games.

Sure, there are lots of Cowboys fans here, but they are everywhere. When Dallas played here earlier in the season it was a Cardinals home game in the truest sense. Cowboys fans were pissed that they were not able to dominate in the stands as they did in the past.

Now that the Cards have finally become relative, Cards fans are now able to root for their team and not be criticized for being a fan of the local team. Until now, it was never a good thing to where Cards gear because it was always associated with a losing organization that moved to Arizona and was never really Arizona's team. They were still considered St. Louis' team. Now that they have had success here, they are Arizona's team now. It is as if the demons have been exorcized and other than Kurt Warner, there are no more conections to St. Louis.

Go Cards and look for me in the end zone at the Super Bowl!

Locale of the stadium will have nothing to do with crowd domination. Who can and will afford the tickets to the super bowl, will however.

I am not sure what you mean here. I did not mention the locale of the stadium. What has borne out as true is that pro football fans that live in the PHX area are unwilling to attend games in droves if the are subjected to inadequate facilities and temps of 115 degrees. For the past 15 seasons the Cards were hard pressed to have 20,000 season tickets sold. The past three seasons, with the new stadium, more urinals and air conditioning they are sold out at 65,000 plus.

The stadium being located in Glendale now sucks for me as I live 2 miles from ASU and had season tickets there for the last two years which is when I moved down here. But I live 20 miles from Glendale. I go though, because the experience is now enjoyable. I do not have to worry about sun stroke or skin cancer now.

The Cards now do dominate the stands as there are scant tickets available for fans of the visiting team. Now they have to pay top dollar to see their teams, which with this economy, most fans are unwilling to do. The Cards now finally have a home, and a home field advantage.
