Memphis Grizzlies waive Jerry Stackhouse
July 10, 2009 · Filed Under Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies, News, Orlando Magic, Toronto Raptors

The Memphis Grizzlies waived guard/forward Jerry Stackhouse, Grizzlies General Manager and Vice President of Basketball Operations Chris Wallace announced today.

The 6-6, 218 pound swingman was acquired on July 9 as part of a four-team, eight-player trade also involving the Dallas Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic.

The 13-year NBA veteran averaged 4.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 16.2 minutes in 10 games (one start) last season, his fifth with the Mavericks. The two-time All-Star (2000, 2001) holds career averages of 18.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 33.4 minutes in 854 games (563 starts) with the Mavericks, the Washington Wizards, the Detroit Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers.

Is he better than Bonzi Wells?

Why would he go back to Dallas?

HOWIE and I can start that back up... :)

There are more and better stats now than there were during that first holy war.

They didn't play him last year, why would he sign to go back there and not play again?

Most irrelevant/ridiculous Blazer debates (in hindsight):

1. Bonzi vs Stackhouse
2. Draft the Stache
3. Sheed is a loser who will never win anything
4. Kobe Bryant only looks good because he plays with Shaq

I'm sure I'm forgetting hundreds of others that seemed pretty important at the time.....

This is like the 3rd time they have traded him I believe, and he has came back. I doubt he will come back this time, players usually get the message sooner or later and figure it out. My problem with it is, if teams are waiving guys that were part of a trade package, why couldn't we have been involved? We have plenty of "cuttable" talent we could have dealt. I read that Milwaukee is going to cut Bowen. Are you telling me that we could not have furnished just as much cuttable talent as San Antonio?
