OT: Grizzlies crossing fingers they'll face injured Warriors in WCF

Just pointing this out...

Grizz:

3-0 vs. Warriors
2-2 vs. Spurs

Also 2-1 vs. Thunder w/Westbrook (6-2 after the series)

The X-factor in the situation is Andrew Bogut being in and David Lee being out. Lee could not defend our big's, and Bogut can actually match up.

Otherwise, damn straight we're rooting for Golden State. If nothing else, we'd like the series to go to seven games. If it goes to seven, regardless of who we'll play, we'll get a full week's rest, and the other team will be coming off a day or two's rest.

Like Zach Randolph intimated, everyone in the playoffs gets beat up, and rest matters.

I'd have to agree with this. The Spurs had plenty of rest and are just wearing GS out. Of course, GS's style contributes to that somewhat as well.

Griz will be champions this season. End of story! And Golden State aren't going to beat the spurs.

Playoff basketball slows down the pace. Defense matters more. MEM is a rugged, grinding, defensively-oriented team (except for Z-Bo, of course).

Memphis is a team built for the playoffs. They may just change the entire philosophy of where teams want to go next season. Defense truly does win championships.

The great championship teams set a paradigm for other teams to imitate for a decade. With Zach as the prototype PF of the decade, we should obtain his clone, the similarly tough Sullinger from Boston while we can.

If PDX Z-Bo were this Zach, we would have played LA at the five and drafted Durant. Unfortunately, it took Zach being embarrassed to get him to grow up.

2003 NBA Playoffs Zach Randolph was as good as if not better than this year's Zach.

I know some of you accuse KS for trolling on this subject but he has a valid point. I root for the warriors to beat the Spurs but if they don't I think the Spurs wouldn't have much trouble eliminating the grizzlies. I don't know if the Clippers were injured, they're just not that good anyway, OKC with Westbrook would have won in 5, the Spurs as I said shouldn't have much trouble either and if Curry is healthy and the warriors somehow make it to the WCF they should also be favorites, or at least the team I would really want to see win.

Griz took okc to game 7 with a fully healthy team. I love how people think okc were gonna roll over on the griz. Griz have spanked spurs before too.

I feel bad for hating on the Grizzlies, I guess I can appreciate them over-acheiving. Didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings. I do like Zach, Conley is a good player, Gasol is a very good player and you gotta like Tony Allen making such a name for himself based only on defense.
I'll try to stay positive about them, it's not like the Spurs are that great either and I do often like to go for the underdog. I would definitely rather see them win it than Miami, I just hate that Heat team.

I believe that Zach has dematured since playing for us. Imagine the Blazers with the Twin Towers of Zach and Hickson. We'd be tough.

And OKC won. Who cares? The Hawks took the 2008 Celtics to 7 too. Maybe we should hang a banner for them?

Nope we need to respect that the Griz didn't just get rolled over when okc was at full strength. I mean shit king, you called a sweep even without Westbrook. Obviously we can't hang "omg king was so wrong with his prediction" banners can we?

I think the Grizzlies will win this series. San Antonio will have a hard time scoring.

Other than Zach, I am not sure who will score for Memphis. Even though 3 months ago I predicted that SA would not get past the 2nd round, I now have to give them the slight edge.

The key to me is Leonard and Green. They are better 4th and 5th options than what Memphis has. It will be a close series though. Very low scoring and physical.

The Grizzlies win this series in 6. You put Tony Allen on Parker and Gasol on Duncan and force all the role players to keep hitting shots, which I doubt will happen. Memphis is the playing the best out of any team outside of South Beach right now. Don't forget they were able to beat the Spurs two years ago in the playoffs, why can't they do it again?

Not only beat them, but handedly!

Spurs strength is ugly ball with defense. Memphis plays the same way. Spurs won't have that advantage there. It will be a low scoring series; but a fun physical one!

The problem with making the spurs role players make shots is that they did it all year long. I think memphis wins but its going to be close because memphis can't put a team away and the spurs can score when they need to. I think its a 7 game series with each game being within 3 with a minute to go.

Seems like everyone forgets that Brandon Rush blew his knee in the 2nd game of the season too. Going into the season it was Rush that everyone was projecting to be GS's 6th man of the year candidate, not Jack or Landry. Barnes got the starting job but Rush was a top 5 player on the team. Jack, Rush, Landry, Festus is a hell of a bench unit.

W's got some rough breaks. Curry was clearly lacking quicks and unable to plant hard, and it made him much easier to guard. Lee going down obviously hurt. Bogut apparently told MJ last night that he couldn't play anymore because of the bad ankle, he was laboring quite a bit at times. It sucks, but we're built largely around two very injury prone players, so what can you expect?

They certainly can. The Spurs are not a great team. I didn't think they would make it this far, but I over estimated their competition.

But lets not forget these teams are not exactly the same as they both were two years ago, close but not exact. I think SA is deeper this time. But it goes 7.

Thanks for the condolences guys! It was a good year though all in all. Dropping game 1 against SA still hurts like hell but they did pretty well and learned a lot of lessons.

And this is why you don't bank on Bynum. You made reference that bogut turned things around, but his ankles gave way, again!

Say no to Bynum.

Ps, sorry run too!

Gotta take the risk. Getting Bynum and having him get hurt and thus relying on Leonard or JO is much better than giving the money to a 100% healthy McGee, Gortat, or Jordan.

Marc Gasol is garbage. He's the best center on the Grizzlies. That's about it.
