JB has 7 pts/ 3 dimes midway thru the 1st in a start! Lookin' good!

Whats up with Bayless? How did he lose his starting spot to Calderon?

I miss JB. He had his issues, for sure, but you never questioned his heart. Sort of like Jarret Jack was. Hope he does real well in Toronto. The kid deserves it.

Good for Jerryd.

On a side note, does anybody actually believe he'd be able to do this in Nate's super slow system (consistently)? Maybe, but I think he really did need a change of scenery and style.

As a PG? No. As a scoring guard? Yes. He did that just fine when the team featured him as the scoring guard when Roy was out last year, either during the season or in the playoffs.

Calderon had 15 and 14...

Bayless is one of my favourite players on the team but the issue with him is that he isn't a good facilitator, looks to shoot first. That's why i think they actually make a decent combo because Bayless can come is and provide scoring of the bench.

Bayless only got 15 minutes last night. I wonder if Toronto would take NO's 1st round pick for him? :)

Out of the entire Toronto roster, the only player I'd really like to get if they had a firesale is Bayless. I'd offer a first round pick, but I don't think Toronto would trade one of their best young players for just a first round pick. Good young guards like Collison and Bayless aren't that cheap.

They are, if you are a deep thinker, professional restaurant critic like... oh, never mind.

Bargnani? Amir Johnson? Ed Davis? Kleiza?

I can think of several players on that team I'd take over Bayless.

Amir Johnson is the closest. He's better than Bayless now, but I think Bayless has a higher ceiling. Bargnani is finally better than Bayless this year and is 3 years older. Ed Davis doesn't really impress me...he's a year younger than Bayless but isn't doing much. Kleiza has never been particularly good...his best season was on par with Bayless as a 21 year old, in terms of production.

Johnson, Bargnani, DeRozan, Calderon, Barbosa and maybe even Kleiza all have more value on the market than Bayless IMO. Undersized guards that aren't a PG, yet not a SG and don't have an outside shot and can't run an offense aren't really that coveted in the league.

Ed Davis as a prospect with his size and length is most definitely a more coveted prospect.

Toronto's coach seems to be pretty inconsistent... playing Weems ahead of Kleiza and/or barely playing Davis makes little sense to me, given their shitty record and poor prospects for this season.

Ed O.

WTF is up with Bayless? They started giving him big minutes and he put up a couple nice games. Now he's back to the minutes he was getting in Portland and not producing.

Could it be that since Bayless started playing big minutes at the point the team started a losing streak?

NO drops two in a rwo to Detroit and Indy . . . pick number 19 and climbing.

When Blazers jump NO Blazers will more solidify a playoff spot and improve their draft position at the same time.

Not sure what all the hub-ub is about. I told people on here when Bayless got traded to Toronto he was going to flourish. He has a chance to play in a free-flowing offense that really works well with his talent. I think it pretty clear that he wasn't going to play like he is now in Portland, or hell, even New Orleans.

That said, we made a trade. I knew NO's record was an aberration, that team has no depth whatsoever. Every week that pick is looking better and better and I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't make the playoffs. A pick in the lottery for a player who wasn't going to be utilized correctly in our system sounds about right.

NO has only faltered because they traded Bayless. ;)

I didn't like Bayless when he was here. I still don't like him.

But he had such a sunny disposition

Maybe. Or maybe the coach doesn't know what he's doing.

Do we have evidence that the coach knows what he's doing?

Yeah, he realizes that Calderon is a better PG than Bayless.

Bayless seems like an arrogant bastard. He's too confident for his own good.

Enough, who gives a fuck about Bayless now? Really.

We now know what a mildly talented undersized two guard can do if driven to be the best, achieve mediocrity. Good for him.

The Sacramento Kings started last season playing their guards almost equally--Sergio, rookie Tyreke Evans, Beno Udrih, and Kevin Martin. This made them and up and coming team, with a record of 13-14 or .481. Then management decided to make Evans Rookie of the Year over Jennings. So Westphal installed an isolation system for Evans to play like Roy. This decreased Sergio's minutes.

The wins stopped. The Kings stopped being an up and coming team when they decreased Sergio's role. 2 months later they traded Sergio. Here is yesterday's TrueHoop article on this matter.
