After clinching head coach of the Eastern Conference All-Stars, Erik Spoelstra hinted on Sunday that he may put Chris Bosh in the team's starting lineup in place of the injured Rajon Rondo.

"I've only given this thought for the last nine minutes," Spoelstra said. "But I will tell you this, unequivocally, that my loyalties are first and foremost always with the Miami Heat."

A torn ACL knocked Rondo out for the season.

Bosh was selected to the All-Star team as a reserve.

Yes, I thought it weird, but it contrasts so much with the thread title that it fits right here.

Bosh plays for the team with the best record in the East. Spoelstra can pretty much do what he wants here.

I just checked to be sure of this: injured players who can't make the all-star game have replacements chosen by the commissioner. So Spoelstra can't pick Rondo's replacement on the roster.

We all agree that Raymond Felton should be picked as Rondo's replacement, right?

(Just kidding)

Speaking of injuries; when is your boy rose coming back?

I'm in no rush. The team is no threat in the playoffs.

I think it should go to the next selected reserve who had the highest votes. The starters are all whom the fans want to see.

Rondo was a starter. His suggestion is to put Bosh in the front court, and to start off with a back court of Wade/LBJ.

Right. When a starter or reserve can't play int he all-star game, the commissioner picks the replacement. All I was saying is that to fill Rondo's spot on the roster, the commissioner should pick former Blazers PG (he sucked for them) Raymond Felton. Felton deserves some credit for the Knicks' good showing this season.

Frankly, I would rather see Carlos Boozer get the spot.

I know I'm crossing sports here, but it seems normal and even expected in baseball for the ASG manager to basically shamelessly use their power to promote their guys, often in cases where it seems like half of the purpose is to further piss off an intraleague rival.

That said, I think its pretty egregious when a PG goes down that you replace him with your own team's starting C.

Re: OT: Is this favoritism or does Bosh really deserve to be in the ASG starting line

It's not like Bosh is a fluke All-Star. He's been voted in by the coaches 6 times so far in his career and the fans as a starter 2x, and probably does deserve the starting nod over the other reserves. The East bench is full of young guys who have hardly proven themselves in the league.

Bosh is pretty good, though.

Brook Lopez already was selected.

5th highest PER in the NBA this season.

The Nets are another of this season's turnaround situations. Lopez has always been good, but this season he's deserving of the all-star spot. He should have been picked by the coaches in the first place, IMO.
