How do you be a point guard playing a run and gun team like Phoenix and have only ONE assist at halftime? Ah, how the mighty has fallen. He should hang it up after this season.

Never should've traded Devin Harris. And that is EXACTLY why we didn't trade for a veteran last month. You can't give up and coming players for has beens.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

A guy who nearly won MVP is now good for 9/8/6. And he didn't even make the All Star team. So yes, his play has declined. Big time.

Learn the game, then post.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

Dude used to get triple doubles. Now he has 1 assist at halftime. His production has declined and is not what it once was. This is a FACT. And if you think that trading Devin Harris for Jason Kidd was a good decision, then it is you who have no knowledge of basketball.

So what if he has one assist at halftime? You're basing Kidd's season off of one game? Are you serious? What's his average in assists? 8.4. He's 5th in a league, but yeah, he doesn't belong in the league anymore.

Kidd still plays at a very high level ; sure his production has declined. He's about to turn 36 years old. You think he would play like a 22 year old his whole career? Name one player that does. Honestly, how could you even debate that?

Brandon Roy had a 6 point game this season. Why isn't his ass retiring? He clearly doesn't belong in the league according to your logic. And he's much younger than Kidd. Go figure.

Harris would have never been the player in Dallas that he is in NJ. But I'm not surprised you haven't figured that out, yet.

Your post is silly. I can't believe I actually took the time to even answer it.

Roy is an All Star. Kidd is a FORMER All Star. And no, I DON'T expect him to play like a 22 year old. He's 36. His game has declined. He is done. You have to admit he doesn't have more than 1, maybe 2 seasons left in him.

Harris wouldn't have been the same player in NJ, no doubt. His role would be different. But they would've had a very talented PG with upside for the next 10 years. Harris would've given the Mavs more than 9 points, that's for sure.

If you think the Kidd trade was a good trade for Dallas, then you absolutely do not know the game of basketball at all. They got thumped in the first round last season and are looking to get thumped again. Don't get me wrong, I'll be thrilled if they sweep the Lakers. So I'll be rooting for Kidd no doubt. But 1 assist in the half?? In a half with more possessions than the average game? The guy's game has declined.

Learn. Post.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

I'd still take Jason Kidd over Steve Blake right now

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

Oh, your posts are so intelligent. The best you can come up with for your first post is "Are you retarded?" Why did you take my post so personally? I didn't say YOU were done. I said Kidd was done. You even admit it. He's old and his game has declined. It happens to everyone and it is currently happening to Kidd. So I said so.

L. P.

Declined and done are different terms

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

I wouldn't. Three reasons:

A) Kidd is used to commanding the ball 100% of the time. I want the ball in Roy's hands more often. Kidd's too old to change the way he's playing and still be effective.

B) If Roy is doubled, we need a PG who can hit the open three to keep the defense honest. Blake is a much better shooter than Jason.

C) Blake will still be playing pretty effecient basketball in 4 years when we are winning championships. In 4 years, Jason Kidd won't be playing basketball. I want Blake to grow with this team now.

Your right, but on a different team :sigh:

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

By the way, I'm rooting for Dallas in this game and I'd be fine if Kidd had something to do with it. I was just making an observation. "Done" was hyperbole, but I was just pointing out how much his game has declined. He's not nearly as effective as he used to be and why should he? He's old and his career is coming to an end.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

Do you think so? I think Blake is our backup PG of the future (best backup PG in the league) and I think he'll be here for the next 8-10 years.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

Uh oh. Kidd is a 40% three point shooter. My bad. In this case, I needed to learn the game before posting.

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

Kidd with 4 steals in the game... I think thats pretty impressive

Re: OT: Jason Kidd is done.

Maybe but it is pretty damn close and if you take their salaries into account I say no way. I think Blake is probably a better fit for the Blazers then Kidd but I'm not sure.

Yeah I wasn't taking salaries into that equation, just player vs player

Roy is an All Star and Kidd is a FORMER All star. Okay, what does that mean?

His game might have declined, but in no way is he done. You act as if a decline means you have to retire immediately. Stockton's game declined through the years. He played till 40.

Harris would have given Dallas more scoring, but the thing is, that's not what they were looking for. They needed a point guard that would do other things, mainly distributing the basketball.

And they did get kicked out of first round last year. It wouldn't have been any different with Harris.

Do you realize you're talking about one game? Or has that yet to go through your head?

Re: Meant to post this in the Kidd thread

Sweet! A new Kidd thread!

Mook, or whatever his name is was comparing Kidd to Kobe and LeBron? Made no sense. Of course Kobe and LeBron aren't done. They're way better than Kidd. They don't average 9 ppg and disappear during games like Kidd does. Please. Stupid comparison.

And what I posted, likely when the thread was locked, so no one could have responded anyways:

So Kidd is done because of his one assist half, huh?

By that logic, Kobe is clearly done since he could only hit 11/29 the other night against you guys. Oh yea, LeBron is probably done too because of that game he had a week or so ago when he didn't even record an assist. Hell, Stephen Curry must be done before his NBA career has even started since he struggled in a few games this year. Oh, and Patty Mills is done before his NBA career starts too since he only went 2/14 the other night with 5 points.

Could you have a bigger double standard, just curious. One half does not make a season. He's 5th in the NBA in assists this year. His scoring might have dropped off, but he's also not asked to do it as much with Dallas. Dallas isn't asking him to score the basketball. That's why they have Jason Terry, Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard. Kidd is there to get the offense going, and if he gets points in the process, it's a plus.

If you're serious, good job missing the point of his post. If you're being sarcastic it's unnecessary.

As for the original post, thanks for the info.

.

Why are you comparing Kidd to Kobe and LeBron? Sure those two have a couple bad games but they have Wayyyyyyy more good games than Kidd has had this season so there's no comparison. It's a terrible argument.

Learn the game, then post.

Wow, you don't get it, do you?

I'm proving a point. One bad game or one bad half doesn't mean you're done, which is basically what you're saying about Kidd. So, by that logic, LeBron should have retired after his no assist game or after each of his atrocious performances against the Lakers. And Patty Mills? Don't bother coming to the NBA because of you're 2/14 shooting the other night.

You're reasoning is ridiculous and flawed. One bad half or one bad game does not mean your career is over.

Dude. You have to put it in context. It's not just one bad half. But the gradual decline that has led up to that bad half. He has slowly but surely gotten less and less effective in this league and I looked at the boxscore and went "wow, his prime has past." And you must agree with me. He's not what he was. He used to be an MVP candidate. Now he's not even an All Star and getting "less and less effective." I was noting it. Every single player in the history of the game reaches a moment when they are "done." It appears that Kidd has reached that moment. He is not what he was. Not close. His days of being a dominant point guard in this league are "done."

Everyone understood your post. Most people agree with it.

It's just that KS likes to pretend he dies when he goes to sleep and is reborn when he wakes up. Each day is it's own separate world that should be evaluated and treated as such.
