OT: Jesse Jackson calls Dan Gilbert 'slave owner'

Jesse Jackson ceased to be relevent about 2 decades ago. So who gives a shit.

It's actually racist of you to basically say "if you have money, shut up and deal with my hate of you because you are black."

Didn't catch this part before. Dude I'm not racist what the fuck? I'm what they call a white ally (although I'm not 100% European descent more like 85%) of people of color. In addition to that, I'm confident enough in that position to be someone who has the balls to say when a particular tactic such as Jesse's stupid fucking statement is NOT HELPFUL. I'm saying that the PATH out of a racist society is educational/economic access. A slave such as is the point of this whole thing had ZERO access to either. Thanks to MLK Jr. and others African Americans have INFINITELY more access then in previous centuries to both jobs and education.

Is there still work to be done in America on race? Well fucking duh! In fact almost now more then ever with the election of Obama racism that had been somewhat lurking in the shadows due to PC is now oozing out into the mainstream. Unfortunately, folks like Jesse Jackson undermine the credibility of people who are working to change race relations in America. It's just like when people criticize Obama's policies and some folks immediately call the person making the criticism racist. That's just fucking dumb and undermines folks who are REALLY dealing with racism such as those who are pulled over due to racial profiling. A good friend of mine is Mexican American and I was stunned how often we were pulled over in our youth. I found during the period when I had long hair that I lost some of my "white privilege" and was pulled over more although nothing on the order of what my friend suffered.

Racism is a big fucking problem in America. LeBron being bitched out by an owner of an NBA team he back stabbed is NOT an example of this. Fuck there were effigies hung down in the south outside a schoolhouse. THAT'S the kind of shit we need to focus on and stamp out. That's my entire fucking point. You and Jlprk have already labeled me racist without knowing a god damn thing about me. For instance I'm descended from slaves via my Native American heritage so you two just look like fucking idiots to me considering I'm well aware of racist history in America that uprooted my ancestors (trail of tears and slavery) and I have worked hard in my life to address racism and poverty. You guys just don't have a fucking clue about me or who I am.

I think Jesse Jackson HELPS the KKK types in their insidious arguments to impoverished poor white men in the South. Like the Serpent in the garden of Eden they whisper "See, they are always claiming things are racist even for 100 millionaires, meanwhile you are in poverty".

Don't you see how dangerous and stupid Jesse Jackson's statements are?!?!?!

It's actually disrespectful to the victims of Slavery in my opinion to make that kind of gross comparison!

I'm not a minority advocate, nor a gay advocate. In fact, I could give two shits about someone's race, creed, color, religion or sexual preference. I'm a people advocate.

I didn't make a sweeping statement. I said "some of you."

And I don't give a shit about the work you've done. Do the work for the good of it. Don't do it so that you can brag about it and act like you're a fucking know it all.

By the way, getting and making a TV show is WORK. You have no idea what goes into producing a minute of television. I know I could do the work you do. I bet you couldn't do the work I do. Or have the perseverance and ability to work under pressure to even get the job in the first place. it's WORK.

and the award for the most "look at me and what I do" post goes to.........

Said by someone who has never done the kind of work I do

WTF!?! How do you know what I've done or never done?? That's insanely presumptuous. Perhaps I don't brag about it like you do. Jesus Christ... Since when do you know 10% of what I've done if my life or been through?

I work in the film industry. And so I do know the amount of hard work that goes into making a tv show/movie. A lot of people put in long hard hours, actors included. A lot of people hear you talk about being an actor and immediately imagine Tom Cruise chilling in his trailer on set or something. For most actors it's a grind. A lot of failure and humility goes along with it. Some get hit with the lucky stick and don't have to go through the bullshit as much, but for most it takes a hell of a lot of perseverance. That said, I think it's a mistake for you to claim you could easily do someone elses job, you're making the same mistake they're making with you.

As for Jesse Jackson's comments, I think you're way off. Yes, racism exists. No, Gilbert's comments had nothing to do with race.

I said I KNOW I could do that work. I didn't say I THINK I could. Wow. Geez...

Looking back at my posts, I realize I was way too dismissive of your story and for that, I apologize. Thanks for sharing you story and point of view with us. I'll say no more.

He read your IMDB.

What Idog is saying is simple. There is real racism in the world and Jackson crying wolf where no racism is evident only detracts from making headway against racism. But it does get Jackson press, and I think this is what really matters to the reverend.

now, let's get back to measuring dicks. :dancepenguin:
