You know who is ACTUALLY beasting? Totally carrying his team, scoring at will, despite being constantly double and triple teamed? This guy.

He already has the tournament MVP pretty much wrapped up.

And yes, I would trade LMA for him. But if we offered, I'm pretty sure they'd turn it down (especially since he pretty much owned Aldridge in that playoff series).

Scola is very good, I like his game a lot. He's also 30 years old. There is probably some tread left on his tires, but time isn't on his side in that comparison. Just sayin'

Sure he's light on his feet and can defend the perimeter well for a big man, but thats kind of a pointless skill. Down on the blocks he gets used and abused.

Scola is 30 years old. Way, way older than Love and in his basketball prime. Do you think Scola was nearly as good at 22 as Love is now? I doubt it.

He's a very good team defender, struggles in man defense against stronger power forwards. He also has very good defensive versatility when defensive switches happen.

Overall, I'd say he's solidly above average taking everything into account. He's below average against bruising power forwards. The Karl Malone types of power forwards will abuse Aldridge, the Duncan types won't (which is not the same as saying Aldridge would shut down the Duncan types of power forwards).

Doubt away. I, in turn, doubt that Love will ever be as good as Scola (except in rebounding, at which he is already better). Scola is Kevin McHale-esque on offense. If you could become that just by getting older...

I think it is strange the fans (or maybe even it's just local fans since he came from L.O.) have a "Love" affair with him.

A quality player, but I think Kevin Love and Brook Lopez will always have that huge red flag waving over their heads that cause analysts to be sour on them and the reason they'll never be media darlings. That is the fact that no amount of stats can make up for the fact that guys like Love and Lopez simply can't translate their games into wins on the only stat that matter to the non-fans, and that is W/L record. Those guys are stars on teams that lose twice as many games as the bad teams in the league.

Oh, fantasy guy can sit and rattle off the good stats and make excuses like bad coaching, or tough strength of schedule, or bad venue, or that somehow role players 2-12 are worse than other bad teams' 2-12. But at the end of the day you can dilute sewage all you want, but it doesn't make it drinkable, it's still sewage. And analysts know that and know better than to make Love or Lopez stars in the league.

Scola is an undersized PF. USA starts Lamar Odom at Center for a reason.

Love has the best PER on the team.

One second tier power forward (LMA) is slightly better then another one (Love). Neither is a top tier player now and most likely never will be.

The one thing I like about Love that LMA is incapable of is his excellent outlet passing.

However, on this Portland team that skill would be completely wasted.

BTW, LMA's help defense isn't all that great. A dude that tall and athletic only gets .6 blocks a game? That's sad.
